Commercial Description:
Our Hefeweizen is 45% malted wheat, and 55% barley malt. Much of the character of this beer comes from its unique yeast, which is not filtered out, so it tends to leave the beer cloudy. The wheat portion of this ale creates a light, crisp, dry brew perfect for drinking on a hot day. The beer is lightly hopped with Saaz, but the aroma and most of the flavor of this beer come from the wheat beer yeast. Beer Geek Stuff: Original gravity: 11.8„a Plato, final gravity 2.0„a P Lightly hopped with Mt. Hood and Saaz. Hazy white-yellow colored served unfiltered and cloudy. Brewed with 55% Vienna malt and 45% wheat malt. Fermented with authentic German wheat beer ale yeast.

light yellow and minimal head for a weizen. thin mouthfeel. flavor has very little malt character and really is lead by its yeast aspect, which is nice, but can’t make up for a weak tasting weizen. one of the poorer legend beer i have had.

Had on tap at The Trellis, which I am nominating for Williamsburg’s most overrated restaurant. While I am aware that this is not a restaurant rating site, I just had to say it out of frustration from paying $160 for a completely unsatisfactory meal. Poured an effervescent gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma of lemon and some butter toffee. Flavor is light, with some lemony citrus notes and some biscuit dough with a touch of grassy hops, ending with a bit of spiciness. Refreshing if underwhelming, though not nearly as much as my meal. By the way, if you’re ever in the Williamsburg, VA area, I highly recommend visiting The Fat Canary and completely ignoring The Trellis. The two used to be co-owned by the same man, who later abandoned the Trellis. I’m not sure why, but I’m willing to bet he bothered to taste the flavorless food that sucker tourists were paying $30 a plate for. Plus, The Fact Canary had three different Legend beers on tap, which was nice.

Pint at the brewery. Slightly cloudy light straw color well carbonated. Fairly clean wheat flavor with clove spice phenolics. Slight cardboard oxidized notes. Overall nice summer sipper.

Bottle from WFM Charlottesville. Pours a hazy straw-lemon color with a medium sized frothy head. Good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma was skunk at first but mellowed into yeast and clove. Taste is watery, bland and uninteresting. A little sourness and a typical yeast flavor. Bleh.

Bottle courtesy of phisig137, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a soft white head that stays around and leaves a nice lacing. Nose is composed of banana, clove, lemon, and some sort of chlorine smell. Taste is mostly clove, with some lemon and banana undertones. Quite a refreshing taste. Highly carbonated and full bodied, pretty nice. This would be a great beer to have around, other than the smell this one could rival its German counterparts.

Chillled bottle from norms wine and beer in Vienna, VA. Pours out a hazy light orange. Smells citrusy with some wheaty banana undertones. Rather spicy with a nice balance of sweetness. Suprisingly good for an american hefe. Cheers

Cloudy pale body with a large white head. The aroma is light and fruity with notes of banana, cotton candy, clove and bread. The flavor is slightly dry and spicy with light banana, apricot, light bubblegum, pepper and dough. Medium/light body is round with moderate carbonation.
