Commercial Description:
Our Hefeweizen is 45% malted wheat, and 55% barley malt. Much of the character of this beer comes from its unique yeast, which is not filtered out, so it tends to leave the beer cloudy. The wheat portion of this ale creates a light, crisp, dry brew perfect for drinking on a hot day. The beer is lightly hopped with Saaz, but the aroma and most of the flavor of this beer come from the wheat beer yeast. Beer Geek Stuff: Original gravity: 11.8„a Plato, final gravity 2.0„a P Lightly hopped with Mt. Hood and Saaz. Hazy white-yellow colored served unfiltered and cloudy. Brewed with 55% Vienna malt and 45% wheat malt. Fermented with authentic German wheat beer ale yeast.

22 oz bottle. Hazy light orange color with white head that fades quickly. Aromas of wheat, yeast, cloves, banana, and faint lemon notes. Flavor is fairly well balanced, not as spicy as the nose suggests, and ends in a drying bite. A bit watery, but otherwise tasty.

22 oz. Bomber. Not as cloudy as most other hefeweizens I’ve had. A little bit more bitter than the others I’ve had, perhaps doing to the barley malt. A pretty good beer from a pretty good brewery

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. Bought cold. No freshness date seen. Poured out about as you’d expect. Golden / straw yellow color, with a soapy white head. Aromas are of phenolics, lactic wheat malts, yeasty bread. Catty hops in the flavors, along with spicy phenolics, wheat bread flavors as well. Medium body, OK mouthfeel. Decent aftertaste, nothing too spicy.

Bottle; poured a hazy, slightly darker gold. Large white head. Aroma of yeast, spice/clove, some citrus and very light banana. I preferred the flavor more than the aroma. Good palate and easy drinking. Flavor of banana, cloves/spice, citrus, wtih a light hop finish. Slight sweetness in the beginning.

Draft at Greenleafe Tavern. Hazy gold pour with off-white head. The aroma had hopcitrus and some banana and clovey notes. Smooth palate, with flavors of malt matched with spicy hops and banana. Decent complexity.

Bomber. Cloudy yellow gold with a big white head that quickly recedes to a white film. Textbook hefe nose - lemon, banana, light bubblegum, clove, yeast - it’s all there in varying degrees. Soft, light body, crisp, lightly tart. Flavors of wheat, lemon, clove, with light banana, yeast and bubblegum. I’m not a big fan of the style, and I still find this very good and easily drinkable. Well done!

Va BF 07 Draft: Marvelous strawberry and banana aroma. Cloudy pale golden pour with a thick head and good lacing. Rather strong and prominent banana flavor, but not complex. No finish worth mentioning. Still, it’s a fantastic beer and immensely enjoyable.

Bottle sampled in May 2006 thanks to Numenor: Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin wispy white head. Aroma of sweet malted wheat, banana and mild buttery toast with a hint of lemony tartness. Body starts lightly sweet and slightly toasty with good peppery clove and mild citrus balance. Fairly authentic and very drinkable.
