Orange pour, hazy reflects, the head is white and quickly diminishes to a ring. A very aromatic model, showcasing explosive orange, woody and floral aromatics of fresh and bright American hops. Their qualities don’t seem to be as energetic in mouth where the bitterness gains in importance, the aromas, on their side, die off a bit faster. Not much to say about the malts despite that they certainly serve as a good mouthfeel support, providing a medium body with creamy carbonation. Feels quite direct and citric in mouth, but otherwise quite pleasant.

Bottle: Courtesy of The_Beer_God via trade. Aroma is very citrusy. Lots of orange, apricot, grapefruit hops, and melon Pours a transparent bright orange with a small off-white head. Quick initial orange and apricot sweetness is instantly dominated by a huge grapefriut hop finish. Hops linger in the aftertaste for some time. A little more malt would improve balance.

Amber gold and brown, nice looking body with a buttery white head with decent lasting power. Fragrance is exquisite, with melon, pineapple, pine needs, apricot and tangerine. Taste confirms much of the aroma, but does so without being too sweet; all of the aforementioned flavors along with light caramel and maple. Very hoppy instead. Sweet ruby-red grapefruit is very pronounced now, both on palate and aroma. Aftertaste is roasty and piney hops. Good beer, picked this one up at Norm’s Beer in Vienna, VA.

Huge hoppy nose, very citrusy hops, lots of oranges, good sweet malty backbone. Dark amber colored body with a medium sized off-white head. Flavor starts out malty with notes of caramel, then a huge hop flavor, very piney, good bitterness, ends quite dry. Thanks a bunch Mike for trading me this gem.

Bottled: Orange coloured. Clear. Dark beige dense head. Aroma of pineneedles, herbs some fruits and grass in the aroma. Flavour is herbal, grapish, light caramelly, very hoppy and has a light malt bottom. Ends on a fruity bitterness. Quite delicious.

Pours deep amber with a perfect little head. Soap and grass in the aroma, with some very nice tropical fruit notes. Great hop flavor--not overpoweringly bitter, but incredibly flavorful. I’ve finally found a Legend I can drink.

This 22 oz. brown bomber with a plain label was part of the BIF 18 (Cellar Meat) package from BA pentathlete. It came out the bomber orange-amber, hazy, and well carbonated. The head was two-finger thick, foamy, and beige, and it left gobs of chunky lacing. The beer smelled quite mild for a Double IPA. Although it was hoppy in the grapefruit, grass, and mango notes, the smell was not overpowering enough. Taste was a barrage of citric notes that were quite a bit tart and sour, and had a peppery hoppy zing lingering in the background. Despite the claim of high IBUs, the hops used seemed rather low in bitterness to me. The pale and caramel malts were not quite up to par to balance out the hop flavors, but they did supplement it nicely with some fruity notes. The mouthfeel was dense and gritty, and aftertaste that of lingering hops derived peppery and citric notes. Quite drinkable if you like citrus.
