Commercial Description:
A big, crisp Ale that is hopped to the extreme. A Combination of Pale Ale, Bonlander Munich and Carapils Malts to which a very, very, generous amount of hops has been added gives a balanced 126 IBU beer.

22oz. bottle. Very nicely and strongly hopped aroma, plenty of fresh pine and juicy citrus with lighter notes of honey, orange blossom and a certain marshmallowy sweetness. Much like sniffing a big burlap bag full of hop cones. Attractive medium-dark amber color, clear, with a lasting, creamy and large-bubbled head. Just a kiss of lightly toasty malt sweetness to start, this being very forcefully infused thereafter with a massive amount of hop flavor and bitterness, these traits contributing a spicy, citric bite which lasts long into the resinous, floral and lightly oily finish. Mouthfeel is fairly effervescent and gently warming with a medium body. I was initially skeptical of the claim of 126 IBUs, but if it doesn’t have that amount, it has something very close to it. Just really, really hoppy. Luckily, I enjoy just such a character. Thanks Kinz!

RBSG 2006 grand tasting. pours a think hazy golden yellow with a white head. sure, this has got plenty of hops, but it is also a bit roasted in flavor. the thick head is really impressive and lasts a long time. has an absolutely great aroma of hops and citrus and pine. delightful.

Hazy amber with a creamy off-white head. Solid malt aroma accompanied by light flowery hops. The flavor is dominated by a smooth bitterness supported by a good malt base. Perhaps a bit one-dimensional. I’d like a bit more hop aroma and malt intensity.

RBSG ’06. Clear light amber with off-white head. The aroma is grapefruit, pine, caramel, very nice. The flavor is fairly dry, bitter all the way through, lots of grapefruit. Medium/light body, bitter end.

RBSG ’06 Big creamy off white head and a light amber color. Great hop nose of grapefruit and orange rind. Lots of citrus hops with flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, apple juice and orange. Nice body for the style. Very nice IIPA

Ahhh, the aroma of fresh, sweet grapefruit. Large, foamy, white head, beautiful golden copper color. Wow, very light bodied, and the taste, just as the smell, fresh grapefruit, slightly fizzy and makes your mouth pucker a bit at the end. Found this one very pleasant, guess you’ve just got to have the taste buds for IPA’s. Was expecting a bigger bitter and a little more body since it’s IBU is high and it is an Imperial IPA. Still, this is fabulous. This is beer to me.

22 oz bottle, given to me by The_Beer_God at 2006 RBSG (Thanks Mike!). Pours a clear orangish copper body under a beautiful 2 finger stiff off-white head with great retention. Aroma is hugely grapefruity with a sweet bready malt base. Very clean smelling. Flavor is aggressively bitter, raw citric bitterness dominates, yet the malt provides a nice trellis for those hops to climb. Long lingering finish that lasts forever. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate prickly carbonation. Slightly sticky on the finish. Overall, a very nice IIPA. Extremely fresh tasting. If there’s talk about there being some fragility to Legend’s beers, it certainly wasn’t there with this one.

RGSG06: Very smooth IIPA. Clowdy orangish/brewon. Sweat and hoppy (suprise, suprise). Almost really nice.
