Commercial Description:
If beer is liquid bread, then this is a meal in a glass! A big, black, monster of a beer the color of used motor oil that tastes like a food fight in your mouth. This is actually an Imperial Oatmeal Stout, as nearly 25% of the mash consisted of flaked oats, producing a thick, silky smoothness. Pale Ale Malt is the base for this brew, with Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, and Black Barley (all in generous amounts). Tomahawk hops are used exclusively during the boil and for dry hopping. Expect a thick, heavy brew with intense dark malt flavors and a sharp, piney hop character.

Out of a bomber at Styles place. Very dark beer with a big foamy brown head that left nice lacing. Silky coffee and chocolate nose that foreshadowed the taste very well. Lots of coffee and chocolate flavors, with a hoppy pine and orange rind bitterness. Very hot on the tongue. Very enjoyable.

22oz. bomber thanks to Dickinsonbeer. Black color with a small light brown head. Very hoppy aroma for an impy stout. Pine, chocolate and some roasted malts are the aromas that stand out to me. The flavor is also dominated by the hops, followed by some roasted malt and a touch of coffee. A very different stout that I have mixed feelings about. On one hand I like the fact that it stands apart from other impies, it’s just that the hops overwhelm the roasted malt and I feel like I’m missing something.

Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this at the January gathering. Poured black with a creamy brown head. Strong pine and grapefruit hop aroma, with not much roastiness. Taste has plenty of hops, somewhat overpowering, with some acidity. Not enough roastiness for my taste in a stout.

Sampled from 22oz bottle courtesy of Whaleman. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized brown head. Wow talk about a hoppy nose. Aromas of strong pine giving way to roasted malts, chocolate, and a light butteriness. The hops in the flavors were not as strong as the aroma. Tastes of roasted malts, hop leaves, coffee, and light caramel. Some lacing left on the glass. I have a bottle of this that I will let sit to see how the hop presence fade over time.

Opaque black bodsy, thich creamy nut brown head. Thick sticky lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, choco-coffee and loads of piney hops. The flavor is really quite nice. Just enough bitter coffee to balance teh sweet chcoclate. Fruits inclusing, citrus and reaspbeery make brief appearances. Hops dominate towards the end. The flaked oats lend a really nice rounding effect to the whole package. Full body with a bitter chcocalte finish. I have as of late been quite anti-imperial stout but this one is changing my mind.
