Very dark beer with a big foamy brown head that left nice lacing. Silky coffee and chocolate nose that foreshadowed the taste very well. Lots of coffee and chocolate flavors, with a hoppy pine and orange rind bitterness. Very hot on the tongue. Very enjoyable. fatty (363), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA

Black color with a small light brown head. Very hoppy aroma for an impy stout. Pine, chocolate and some roasted malts are the aromas that stand out to me. The flavor is also dominated by the hops, followed by some roasted malt and a touch of coffee. A very different stout that I have mixed feelings about. On one hand I like the fact that it stands apart from other impies, it’s just that the hops overwhelm the roasted malt and I feel like I’m missing something. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 31, 2006 Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this at the January gathering. Poured black with a creamy brown head. Strong pine and grapefruit hop aroma, with not much roastiness. Taste has plenty of hops, somewhat overpowering, with some acidity. Not enough roastiness for my taste in a stout. hopdog (5609), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2006 Sampled from 22oz bottle courtesy of Whaleman. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized brown head. Wow talk about a hoppy nose. Aromas of strong pine giving way to roasted malts, chocolate, and a light butteriness. The hops in the flavors were not as strong as the aroma. Tastes of roasted malts, hop leaves, coffee, and light caramel. Some lacing left on the glass. I have a bottle of this that I will let sit to see how the hop presence fade over time. TomDecapolis (3197), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2006 Opaque black bodsy, thich creamy nut brown head. Thick sticky lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, choco-coffee and loads of piney hops. The flavor is really quite nice. Just enough bitter coffee to balance teh sweet chcoclate. Fruits inclusing, citrus and reaspbeery make brief appearances. Hops dominate towards the end. The flaked oats lend a really nice rounding effect to the whole package. Full body with a bitter chcocalte finish. I have as of late been quite anti-imperial stout but this one is changing my mind.
