Commercial Description:
If beer is liquid bread, then this is a meal in a glass! A big, black, monster of a beer the color of used motor oil that tastes like a food fight in your mouth. This is actually an Imperial Oatmeal Stout, as nearly 25% of the mash consisted of flaked oats, producing a thick, silky smoothness. Pale Ale Malt is the base for this brew, with Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley, and Black Barley (all in generous amounts). Tomahawk hops are used exclusively during the boil and for dry hopping. Expect a thick, heavy brew with intense dark malt flavors and a sharp, piney hop character.

This was a good but not overwhelming IPS with a lot of chocolate malts and generous amonts of roasted barley with a nice but not to big sweet finish and some hints of hops and vanilla not bad and very drinkable.CHEERS!

Black with a tan head. Buttered popcorn, roast, and lactose sweetness as well. Buttered popcorn shows up in the taste as well; roasty finish, lactose. There’s a good beer in here, but the diacetyl is really distracting and takes a lot away from this beer. High carbonation and less than medium body. I’d like to try next years batch to see if there was just a problem with this bottling/bottle.

Bottle shared by puddintane: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma, dark fruits, coffee, caramel, and some faint dark chocolate. Flavor, coffee, roasted notes, dark fruit, chocolate milk. Roasted bitterness on the finish.

Thanks sliffy: This has just about the right amount of alcohol for a drinkable IS. Aroma of burnt chocolate malts, and scalded chocolate milk, with an alluring sweetness. Very dark pour, with thin tan head of small bubbles. Extreme malt on the palate but rounded out with a good balance of hop bitterness. Bittersweet and delicious.

Very complex intense aroma of toffee, chocolate syrup, woody, leafy, bark. Trace of smoke and fig and even a bit musty smell to it. Black opaque pour, viscous, with a thick brown head, and good lacing. Tastes of espresso, bitter bark, currants, and high quality hops. Espresso and walnut finish. Frothy mouthfeel, fantastic complexity and balance. No trace of alcohol. Pairs well with strong meats and cheeses. Hops really shine through when warm. Amazing brew!

22oz bottle, courtesy of acrdz. Thanks, Mike! Pours a very dark, chocolate brown color; dark tan head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Some tart citrus and bitter chocolate and green coffee in the aroma; tart, bittersweet baker’s chocolate. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: tart bittersweet chocolate and coffee; pasty, bittersweet malt core with some citrus; uninspiring imperial stout. Lengthy finish, showing bittersweet chocolate and citrus and cocoa.

22oz bottle. Heavy roast and chocolate on first sniff and sip, but then the plastic and burnt oil starts to appear... sugared motor oil and greenish roast is about all I get from this one, and that sounds really terrible but it’s not really that bad. It’s a middle of the road heavy stout that’s thinner than most imperials but certainly has the roast and a little smoke, it’s just nothing great.

Pours dark brown with a nice carmel head. Aroma is brown sugar with roast malt. Flavor is a bit bitter with some bitter chocolate and mild smoke. Finish is deep in the rear of the palate and is quite sticky. One of my favorite impy stout.
