Medium beige head atop very dark brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, nutty, caramel, chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, milk chocolate, nut, caramel, light cherry. Soft medium body, low carbonation. hopdog (5609), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2007 22oz bottle acquired in trade with The_Beer_God (thanks!). Poured a deep brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and some nuts. Tastes of roasted and toasted nuts, bitter chocolate, trace of caramel, and had a bitter coffee finish. Interesting for a brown ale. CaptainCougar (5520), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Lightly sweet, toasty dark caramel malty aroma has some toffee notes. Body starts lightly sweet and toasty with some dark, mildly roasted notes toward a slightly grainy, drier finish. A nice brown ale. hopscotch (5511), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Good retention. Chocolate and graham nose. Watery, thin flavor with very subdued chocolate and toasted nuts. Perfectly balanced, but in a “club soda” kind of way. Not a whole lot going on here. Light to medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Watery finish! Kudos to growler for providing the bottle for everyone to share! goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2007 22 oz bomber -- poured a deep, dark red-tinted hue with a beautiful mountain cap of rocky foam. The aroma is big and spicy, almost like a Worchestershire sauce. Likewise, this drinks with a big, bold very woodsy, barky palate. There’s a sweet caramel pull, as well. Doesn’t really fit the humid crush of the 400th anniversary season, but this would be a great warmer in the fall. Nice. (#2946, 5/31/2007) TheBeerGod (3167), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 27, 2007 Bottle. Didn’t even realize this was out when I got to the beer store today. Pours very dark. Steep tan head. Faint ruby glow when light attempts to pierce it. Nose is sort of fruity, malty, caramel laden, and soft nuttiness. Taste is also sweet and malty with more caramel, slightly toasty malts, and light fruit notes. Body is rich and creamy but smooth with moderate carbonation. Finishes with more fruit notes, caramel, toasty malts and soft cocoa. Not bad!
