dkachur (2313), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 12, 2009 Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with very lightly toasted malts/ Some stone fruits and caramel as well. Fairly dry. Taste is caramel, apple, apricot and a grainy finish. Leafy hops as well with a very, very faint hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Good beer. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2008 Richmond Gathering. On tap at the brewpub. Hazy golden brown with a small tan head. Earthy malt nose, light fruit and honey. Honey and earth flavors, doesn’t seem quite sweet enough for a maibock. Medium body. OK. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 16, 2008 Pint at the brewery . Mostly clear golden copper well carbonated. Aroma of caramel malts and some yeasty fruityness. Caramel with a bit of roast malt flavor. Some fruity yeast notes.
Generally lacked any spicey german style hop flavor or bitterness. A bit of alchohol warming. Fairly thin light mouthfeel, seems to lack some of the
expected malt sweetness typical in the style. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 05/31/2006

jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 11, 2007 on tap-pours a white head and amber color. Aroma is mild medium malt-some sweet, medium fruit. Taste is mild medium malt-some sweet, medium fruit, hint of hops. Mild carbonation. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 2, 2007 Bottle sampled in May 2006 thanks to Numenor: Clear copper amber with a thin-lacing light tan head. Aroma of semi-sweet Vienna and Munich malts, lightly toasted with earthy bittering noble hops and German lager yeast. Starts with a nice, lightly sweet German maltiness with some good noble hoppy balance. Fairly true to style, but could use a touch more sweetness. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 2, 2006 Poured a clear glowing dark amber color with a thin beige head. The malty aroma was sweet and sugary. Fruity and yeasty notes. Light alcohol present. Malty flavor was bitter and spiced at the end. Dry finish. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA May 21, 2006 Flat and headless beer is a caramel-ruby color that nearly looks artificial. Thin aromas of malt and some floral. Sweet tasting, with a drying finish that gives away the hops. Caramel on the finish. Full palate and a "contained" carbonation that enhances some of the malts on the finish, too.
