Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 18, 2009 Serving: 22 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Very deep, clear amber color with a small, light tan head.
Aroma: Caramel, cotton candy, and a little nuttiness in the nose. Not what I would say is the traditional aroma for an Oktoberfest, but not bad.
Flavor: Very malty with notes of caramel, candy sugar, and some breadiness. A bit of a bitter alcohol note in the background. Not bad.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium, malty finish.
Overall: A fairly solid Oktoberfest and worth a try. beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Oct 18, 2008 On tap @ the Brewpub-Dark mahogany color w/a slight tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Flavors of caramel, toffee, bread dough, & roasted malt. Pretty basic, but pretty good. Very drinkable, sesson brew. Long, sweet finish. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 17, 2008 medium brown with mild head. mild nose. well balanced yet subtle flavors of crystal malt with a nice hop balance. the balance makes this beer very enjoyable, one of the better legend brews i have had Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 12, 2008 Bomber. Crystal clear amber with a thick tan head that lasts to the bottom of the glass. Scads of carbonation bubbles. Very earthy nose, caramel and light toffee, mildly spicy. Flavor is spicy bread, caramel and mild toffee, earthy bitter. Medium bodied, drippy lace. The earthy bitterness hangs in the finish. Good stuff! dkachur (2315), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 26, 2008 22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Reddish amber pour with a medium head and low head retention. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and candy apples. Slightly bitter grainy taste with green apple and grassy notes. Medium body. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 23, 2008 Off taps at brewery 8/22/08. Nice malty caramel nose. Clear amber orange with small white head. Carmelized malt dominated with touch of hop spicyness and some nuttiness. Medium body and full mouthfeel. Finish is moderately sweet. Good enough to order a second pitcher. alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Nov 28, 2007 Bottle; poured a brownish-amber with a good sized off white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts and flowers. Agree with golubj’s comment about the nuttiness; a lot of nuts in the finish. Up front there is some rather bland and light caramel flavor; some sweetness. I did enjoy the nuttiness, but overall found it about average for the style. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottle courtesy of alexanderj. Dark amber color, with a dense off-white head. Aroma of nutty malt, lightly roasted like a vienna, and some floral hops. Sort of bland flavor, with the nuttiness noticable in the aftertaste. Not my favorite version and not my favorite style.
