Commercial Description:
Legend Oktoberfest lager is our most popular seasonal. This brew is red-orange in color, malty but well balanced with noble type hops. It has 5.4% alcohol by volume and is lagered (aged) to create a smooth drinkability. It is most similar in style to a Vienna lager or a Marzen beer. Judicious use of caramelized malt gives this brew a smooth sweetness and deep orange color. It is hopped with American Tettnang, German Hallertau and Czech Saaz.

on tap-pours a dissipating light tan head and copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt, light/medium fruit. Taste is a bit heavy handed on the spices (from the hops?), sweet medium malt, light/medium fruit. OK carbonation.

WBF. Pours an orange with a medium head. The aroma is ok, not a whole lot going on. Sweet and malty on the nose and tongue. Not very complex.

22 oz bottle. Pours a pretty deep brown amber color. Head is pretty thick. Overall the beer is extremely sweet in both aroma and flavor. It ends up being a great desert beer that I find to be one of the best Fall seasonals I’ve had this year.

Pours a brownish orange. Pretty large head. Smell of malt. Taste a little caramel, malt, maybe some wood in there. Very balanced neutral finish.

Red and amber in color. Nice fluffy head. Lavender and honey-scented. Cotton candy. Really light palate, barely any carbonation. Souring malts with an almost coffee, woodsy finish -- really dry and out of place on an amber lager. Not really very hoppy.

Biggest disappointment from Legend, yet. Although I can’t complain too much, I got a free sample. Pours and appears nice... but is dead in the glass. Little to no aroma. Soft to flat, light sourness with some extremely unrefined nutty/woodiness. I have a hard time believing they are having QC problems two years in a row... I can see this being "drinkable" but doesn’t stand up to other Oktoberfests.

Bottle. Copper/orange color with creamy, long lating full head. Aroma is really nice-heavy caramel with bread and toffee notes. Malts really dominate the flavor. Smooth caramel maltiness is balanced nicely by the hops which are in the background but contribute just the right amount of flavor. Some bready and/or nutty flavors are present also. Medium to full bodied, creamy, very smooth and great tasting beer.

Bouquet of cherry, apple, hops, and subdued malt. Red amber color, clear, with a relatively thick tan head. Tastes of wood and berries, a bit of barley. Excellent hop finish. Everything goes together very well. Awesome!
