Butter and butterscotch aroma, with asparagus bitterness and some hops. Hop flavors are too distinct, separated from and above everything else. Metallic and sour grapefruit, sharp. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Poured a mostly clear dark gold with a small white head. Fruity sweet aroma with thick malt. Light earthy hops. The flavor was malty with hops and bitterness starting up pretty quickly. Long finish. Foxbush (467), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2006 This a pale ale from a local Richmond brewer Legend Brewing Company. They continue to brew at a very high level. This is stand up pale ale. The balance of hops and malt is very evident. The bitter taste of the hops is just right for a pale ale. It is suppose to be an IPA. The head was very big almost 4 fingers. The lacing was impressive. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2006 Largish draught sample at the brewpub. Solid amber-broze, a bit hazy with a light retained head....funky/pungent nose....Simcoe perhaps? with some interesting touches of old dried peaches and wet moldy hay....bitter, dry on the tongue but with lots of old overripe fruits, hints of fig and more than that of apples and apricots, pineapple....quite woody, somewhat harsh, lightly acidic to finish....full hefty body, almost too heavy for a pale ale but just this side of problematic, low to medium carbonation, really quite memorable overall if a little too odd for greatness. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2006 Draft - Cask conditioned. A very nice way to have this beer. Poured at slighly above room temp with minimal carbonation. Clean sharp bitter taste. Couldn’t taste the alcohol at all. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Mar 22, 2006 Tangy tangerine, citrus, tropical fruit punch aroma with a sharp vinegary note underneath. Opaque copper-amber coloured body topped by a fizzy, off white head that recedes to a thin cover. Salty, acrid flavour features harsh citrus-orange hop character with very strong bitterness. Plenty of residual sweetness. Medium body is quite dry with moderate carbonation. Bottle (trade, Aug-05) sampled with GonZoBeeR, MartinT, Rastacouere and Siroy. Thanks, Kinz! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2006 Bomber. Pours gold with a hint of orange. Big white head that quickly diminishes. Nose is Slightly floral, but mostly pink grapefruit and something sweeter (pineapple?) Flavor starts out citrusy, but settles down into a slightly sweet malty flavor, with caramel and brown sugar notes. Although it recedes, the grapefruit tones never go away, just drop to the background. Mildly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is somewhat lively. Pretty good overall. michael-pollack (2741), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2006 Draught at Brewery: Aroma was spicy and hoppy, like Amarillo hops. Pleasant scent. Amber. Good white head. Clear and sparkling. Good lacing. Tasted of hops, chocolate, toasted, nutmeg and was a bit spicy. Lasting sour finish. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Decent pale ale, but more of an APA. Spicy.
