Bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Dark chocolate brown pour with a medium head and decent lacing. Milky roasted malt aroma with some chocolate notes. Mocha like taste with slight tartness and bitterness. Something seems to be missing, but still very pleasant. Body is somewhere between thin and medium.

Bomber. Pours near black with solid brown head that unfortunately is unsustainable and garnet highlights. Roasty chocolate with vanilla nose. Tastes of Medium mouthfeel. Burnt aftertaste. Pretty good beer, but nothing super special.

22oz bomber. Pitch black color with a nice, frothy head. The aroma is pleasant enough, not really displaying many chocolate or roasted malt qualities. The taste is off in my opinion, quite sour and pungent. I like sour beers and don’t really fit the style-Nazi mold, so i can deal with it and accept it for what it is. I’d assume it would be a little different on tap. The roasted malt sweet taste comes through but the sourness is really there, not unlike a Rodenbach.

A very mild porter, but nonetheless a solid brew. The noste has a faint taste of chocolate but the taste has a lingering bitterness at the end. The creaminess is there but nothing really stands out about this, but solid all the way

Bottle; pours black with a medium to large brown head. Aroma could have been more assertive, but what was there was good. Aroma of bitter chocolate, roasted malt, yeast and funky fruit. Initial reaction was one of indifference, however it did get better. Palate was close to being watery with a lot of carbonation, but it was not too detracting. Flavor was of roasted malt predominately with not too much chocolate. Some caramel, fruity sour and toffee components. I could see why for some this would be unusual or bad tasting, but I thought it was about average for the style. Took a few sips, but I warmed up to it.
