Commercial Description:
Leinenkugel 1888 Bock, a lucisous brew, originally created to serve lumberjacks, will be available for all who want to try its excellent boutique of Caramel, Pale and two-row Chocolate malts. Cluster hops add a touch of citrus character and when combined with Munich malts and a 20- to 25-day cold lagering process, you have a truly timeless beer.

Overall Impression: Golden citrus beer...kind of citrusy with a slight twang.

Pours a light tan head that laces a bit. Body looks like a coke. Smells toasted, notes of rip fruit. Tastes toasted, roasted, and a little caramel. Finish is metallic and thin.

Bottle: Deep brown with amber tints, smaller beige head. Smells roasty and nutty, with some faint coffee grounds. Tastes malty and more or less watered down. Not much going on here over the watery lager malt taste.

Bottle. Pours a neat, hollow mahogany body with an aroma of blunt metallic nut and malt. Flavor is retarded copper cherry with bits of barf. Truly disgusting. This beer merits no further discussion; it sucks.

Caramel colored body with minimal head. Toasted malt aroma with some brown sugar. Slightly bitter taste, mollasses and caramel. Slight spice in the end.

Bottle from Total Wine - Midlothian on 04/10/2009. Clear dark amber body with ruby highlights and a small off-white head. Sweet toasty and bready aroma with a touch of molassas. Sweet caramel and molassas flavor with some toasty and bready notes. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Pours amber with a medium head. Aroma is somewhat faint, caramel malts and a mild hop presence. Flavor is fairly reflective of the nose, with the addition of slight yeasty notes and a toasted flavor. Not bad.

Dark brown with a huge light tan head. Some lacings. Aroma is bread dough yeasty. Taste is sweet doughy dark caramel and a kiss of hop bitterness. Easy drinker with not a lot going on. Nothing bad mind you just a bit of a beginner bock. Carbonation was a bit too much. Very sessionable with the 5.2% abv. This is the first time that Leinenkugel has made an appearance on the left coast. Not bad.
