Upon trying it aint so bad. Well in certain regards it is but not the ass-kicking part. A kind of beer; as in kind of creamy, kind of sweet, and kind of good. For some reason this is usually priced higher than other Leine products, go figure. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

Just so happens the beverage manager and the sales rep were chatting and noticed me grabbing the newly stocked item. Sales rep said he hasn’t handled this product for 10 years and he was stoked about it this year. Well this isn’t top shelf by any means, solid beverage but sad example of a dopplebock. Aroma of lightly sweetened malt and fresh bread with that damn mass produced metallic tinge....hate that. Light brown pour with a dark amber tint, small light tan head and mild lacing. Easily drinkable but not very filling, relatively smooth with no aftertaste. Flavor is sub-par, real let down from Leine’s who I’ve come to trust for solid beers. This reminds me of the Berghoff Red Bock I recently bought and rated, very similar it’s almose eerie. Leine’s puts out much better products than this, good thing it’s a seasonal maybe it won’t cross my path for a long time. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 31, 2007 Not really a doppelbock...by any stretch of the immagination. More like a malty amber ale, with complex notes and richness. Not as flavorful as anticipated. It’s not as bad as previous reviews. A very generic bock not in the same league as the Germans (Celebrator, Salvator, Optimator). Could be an old standby though for those bock lovers who can’t easily find the Germans. Malty nose, fruity aftertase, dard amber color. A little weak. Cliff (364), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA

Somebody thought it would be funny to call this a dopplebock, b/c it couldn’t be farther from. Most regular bocks have more alcohol and flavor than this. It was so blah...tasted like a simple amber lager. i was quite disappointed, but hey life goes on. I would steet clear of this one ig0r (6), USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2007 Strong aroma of nuts and malt. Flavor leaves something to be desired, not as colorful as it smells. Not much aftertaste. Very disappointed with the lack of taste given high expectations from initial sniff. Tastes the same minus the nuts and a little too watered down. Some chocolate comes in at the end too. Theres just a little too much malt in this one.
