I remember when I used to think they had a decent beer so I gave their Doppelbock a try.
Shouldn’t have. I think the only resemblance to a Doppelbock was its color, a dark amber. It had virtually no aroma and only a hit of a flavor which I guess was malt.
I looked at the guy serving and said that I though it didn’t have much body at all. He looked at me and said, “Well it’s not like Guinness”
I replied that to my knowledge Guinness does not make a Doppelbock and he said that when people see the dark color they think it’s like Guiness.
I said thanks and bought another beer, or 8. drpimento (824), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2007 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Keller’s IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one pours a dark brownm malty-smelling liquid with a thin tan head of foam. Tastewise, this is a fine bock, with characteristic sweet finish bein quite nice. However, it is a bit light on the body, so the palate isn’t that strong. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA

Very subtle aroma, nothing really jumps out at me. Very easy to drink with toasted malt dominating some mild chocolate undertones. BustedFlat (553), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Feb 24, 2007 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, dark amber with a very thin tan head. Very faint malty aroma. The taste was pretty thin for a dopplebock. I detected some sweet malt with an earthy almost barnyard nose. This would be my dopplebock of choice if I were stranded on a desert island and this was the only beer available.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 24, 2007 Pours reddish brown with a nice foamy tan head. Aroma is metallic oxidation, cardboard, and stale bread. Taste is likewise, with more caramel and malty sweetness to cover up the flaws. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky, with lively carbonation. Not bad for a macro brewer, but this is still pretty disappointing. vyvvy (2044), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Thank goodness this was cheap and available as a single, because it was not very pleasant. Pours chestnut brown with a fizzy / frothy tan head. The aroma was fine enough with vanilla, dark malt that was very lightly roasted and a fruitiness like a white raisins. Medium / thin body with fizzy carbonation - far too light bodied and too much carbonation. Taste starts with dark undertoasted malt, cola and lots of spritziness. The finish is sour and spicy. I’m not sure what makes this a doppelbock as it has no qualities I look for in a doppelbock except for the appearance.
