Commercial Description:
Leinenkugel's is pleased to bring back Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock into its limited-release portfolio. The name "Big Butt" comes from the image of two goats butting heads that you see on the label. Bock means billy goat in German and Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock's name and label pokes fun at the goat's springtime mating ritual. The result is a malty, rich, full-bodied bock beer brewed with two-and six-row pale and specialty malts and two specialty hops. Like all Leinie's beers, Big Butt Doppelbock is handcrafted one batch at a time in our historic Chippewa Falls brewery.

Bottle. Pours a brown color with a creamy tan head. Aroma is weak roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is weak everything. Very drinkable, smooth beer.

TAP: Dark brown / slight red pour with a tan head. Aroma and flavor is mostly non-descript. A little bit of malt and caramel. Fairly dull beer.

Not a bad beer, just not one of my favorites. I would gladly order another one. When I think of great Dopplebocks, this beer does not fall into that category. However, I do think that it is still a good beer and would reccomend it to anyone.

Bottle. Pours smokey brown with a rich creamy head. Smells of carmely, raosted malts, and somewhat fruity. Tastes like carmel roasted malts and fruity, honey, molasses, bittersweet. Has a good aftertaste, very sweet.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours dark brown with some orange hues, beige head that stayed around as a ring. Small aroma of chocolate and dark roast. Flavor is kinda weak, some dark roast, faint chocolate, faint caramel. Mouthfeel is light body and high carbonation....Overall, I think this is a poor excuse for a Dopplebock, I was dissapointed.......It is kinda tasty and easy to drink though....Seems more like an American dark lager. From seeing the first ratings, it must have been better a few years ago...

Deep dark brown with a light tan head. Light malt flavor that is very thin. This is the Amercian doppelbock version so keep your expectations low.

12oz bottle: Reddish brown pour with little head to speak of. This beer really comes alive at it reaches room temperature. Caramelized malts, sweet honey, cocoa and almonds. The sweetness and complexity resonates in the body. Light and drinkable, the lagering really helps smooth this out. A nice intro to the doppelbock style.

Mahogany color with a decent head. Aromas of nut and caramel. Nose is shallow and has little complexity. Flavors are maple, malts and honey with a slight roastiness. Very sweet.
