Commercial Description:
Leinenkugel's is pleased to bring back Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock into its limited-release portfolio. The name "Big Butt" comes from the image of two goats butting heads that you see on the label. Bock means billy goat in German and Leinenkugel's Big Butt Doppelbock's name and label pokes fun at the goat's springtime mating ritual. The result is a malty, rich, full-bodied bock beer brewed with two-and six-row pale and specialty malts and two specialty hops. Like all Leinie's beers, Big Butt Doppelbock is handcrafted one batch at a time in our historic Chippewa Falls brewery.

A good dark beer. It’s sweet, malty and full-bodied, just nothing too special.

bottle. i guess i don’t get the doppelbock in this one. it seems more like a dark lager to me. dark brown color, nice foamy head. caramel and nuts and a hint of hops.

Reddish in color with a pretty good head. Sweet and malty in the smell. The taste is again sweet and has some malts. Some caramel.

Pours a clear burgundy with a beige head that reduces to a thin cap; no lace. The nose is a blend of an odd plastic note, burnt caramel and grassy/earthy hops. On the tongue, the palate is quite nice: silky-soft and on the light side of medium-bodied. The plastic note on the nose, however, asserts itself at the finish and in the aftertaste, leaving a dry and mildly astringent impression, in the end. The flavor follows the nose, with slightly more emphasis on the burnt caramel and less upon the plastic. As far as doppelbocks go, it’s pretty unimpressive. As BMC products go, it’s decent but not worthy of a second purchase.

I got this beer in a five dollar pitcher deal because the other options were Old Style and PBR. This was much less offensive than either of those beers. It was easy to drink but not too much head or complex flavor

Big flavor, good aroma and a treat for those of us "back East" starved for the seasonals.

Poured much lighter than I expected when I thought I was buying a doppel bock. It was much weaker in the mouth, less filling, though creamier than I expected. It had a little bit of spice, but lacked in the smoothness and mouthfeel that I craved.

12 ounce bottle. Poured a nice mahogany color with a decent sized frothy head, The aroma consisted of malt, nuts, and alcohol. Tasted like butterscotch, nuts, and caramel. The finish was a little bit bitter. This beer was nothing exciting, but was surprisingly refreshing. This would be a good session beer.
