| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 16, 2008 12oz bottle. Light brown with slowly fading light brown head with decent lacing on the glass. Malty aroma. Kind of syrupy, a little watery, alcohol is evident. A little too sticky, a little too malty. Not as good as other dopples I’ve had, I remember this one being better. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 13, 2008 Bottle: Dark mahogany color, nice tan head and lacing. Nose of caramel and sweet molasses, light fig and some dark malts. The flavor has a light body, a chewy mouthfeel and a moderate amount of umami for such a downplayed beer. Nutty and caramelly. Finishes buttery and light in the tail. Thin overall but good. RollinHard (758), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 12, 2008 Pours a clear reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is toast, caramel, wheat, corn syrup...from the first smell you can tell that this is a cheapened dopplebock. Tastes of toffee, astringent toast, caramel, butter, and finishes with buttery toast and a bit of roasted grain flavor. Way overcarbonated and watery to the point of annoyance really. I’ve had more substantial Oktoberfest beers, and this is supposed to be a dopplebock? It’s only slightly more interesting than Shiner. mar (1842), Dallas, Texas, USA
