The flavor fell quite short, but It is quite drinkable. In the realm of dopplebocks this is not all that great, but I liked it as a beer. Cheers! scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2008 Dark orange and crimson, creamy light tan head. Soft toasted caramel aromas lay on lighter currents of cherry chocolate bread. Toffee toast and hints of cherry flavor balance on a light herbal hop tone. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, malty finish. Not bad, but just needs some more oomph... jcr (1177), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Dense, off-white head that quickly diminishes and dark copper, clear body. Aroma displays notes of roast, cherry, vanilla and nuts with a hint of caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately acidic. Slightly bitter in the finish. Medium body and watery texture, in fact a very watery texture. Just OK. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours ruby red with a quickly dissipating and disappointing off white head. Nose is of caramel malt, and faint roasted nuts. Taste is....pretty damn awful. Caramel malt and Miller Lite to be quite honest. A hint of sweetness but judging from the other beers I’ve had from this brewery, its probably just as artificial as the good name this brewery once had. You would be quite hard-pressed to find anything more than caramel malt "flavoring" added to this. Watery palate, with rogue bubbles of harsh carbonation. Offensive to any true Doppelbock. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2008 A very straightfoward simple pleasant tasting hearty beer. I enjoy leinies creamy dark, but this one seems to have more kick to it so I like it better. I agree w/ some folks here that its not quite like the real classy (and more expensive) dopplebocks, but I’m kind of glad of that cause I’m really looking for something a little less overwhelming. Its really pleasant and hearty without being too hopsy or bitter.
