General66 (96), Streator, Illinois, USA Mar 24, 2008 12 ounce bottle. Poured a nice mahogany color with a decent sized frothy head, The aroma consisted of malt, nuts, and alcohol. Tasted like butterscotch, nuts, and caramel. The finish was a little bit bitter. This beer was nothing exciting, but was surprisingly refreshing. This would be a good session beer.
Swalden_28 (641), McKinney, Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours dark brown with some orange hues, beige head that stayed around as a ring. Small aroma of chocolate and dark roast. Flavor is kinda weak, some dark roast, faint chocolate, faint caramel. Mouthfeel is light body and high carbonation....Overall, I think this is a poor excuse for a Dopplebock, I was dissapointed.......It is kinda tasty and easy to drink though....Seems more like an American dark lager. From seeing the first ratings, it must have been better a few years ago... Pershing (113), Garland, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Deep dark brown with a light tan head. Light malt flavor that is very thin. This is the Amercian doppelbock version so keep your expectations low. SpudClampDawg (949), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2008 12oz bottle: Reddish brown pour with little head to speak of. This beer really comes alive at it reaches room temperature. Caramelized malts, sweet honey, cocoa and almonds. The sweetness and complexity resonates in the body. Light and drinkable, the lagering really helps smooth this out. A nice intro to the doppelbock style. jkwalking05 (182), Arlington, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Mahogany color with a decent head. Aromas of nut and caramel. Nose is shallow and has little complexity. Flavors are maple, malts and honey with a slight roastiness. Very sweet. spagyetti (68), Puyallup, Washington, USA Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. If you are looking for a colon scrub, grab the BIG BUTT. There is NO doppelbock in this bottle! Maybe old Jack Dawson had a few rounds before setting sail on the Titanic, and that’s the real reason the boat sank!
