Commercial Description:
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Black with medium chocolate colored slowly dissipating head. Aroma of roasted malted, licorice, molasses, bread, caramelized sugar and chocolate. Taste of molasses, sugar, alcohol, sweet malts and light chocolate. Thick mouth feel with a mild bitter hop finish that’s somewhat chewy and syrupy. Alcohol hidden ok, but noticeable. Pretty good effort from Leinie’s.

Bottle: Pours about as black as you can get...medium tan head. Outstanding black cherry aroma with notes of dark malts, chocolate and coffee...some light earthy tobacco notes as well. Rich, creamy mouth feel...flavor consists of dark fruits, chocolate, sweetened condensed milk and dark malts. Great brew.

Bottle via trade courtesy of tytoanderso. Thanks Tyler! Pours a thick jet black with a nice deep burnt brown head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, molasses, coffee, roasted barley. Flavor is dark fruits, chocolates, coffee, rasins, roasted barley. Nice fruity flavors come out to meddle with the chocolate as it warms and then it finishes with bitter burnt cocoa. Wow, I was not let down by this one, very good effort by Leinenkugels. YUM!

Bottle sampled with Mad_Indian. Pours black with a good size tan head. Aroma of chocolate malts, smoke, roast, and molasses. The flavor is sweet, bitter dark chocolate, roast, some smokey notes, molasses which thickened the body nicely. Excellent brew.

[Bottle] Pours charcoal black with a decent sized tan head. Huge aroma of bittersweet chocolate, some bourbon in there, and sweet dark fruits. Medium body with moderate sweetness. Lots of roasted barley and alcohol in the flavor along with dark chocolate and candi sugar. A dryish finish tops off this masterfully done beer.

Bottle from ebay, sampled with Stegosaurus. This reminded me of a milk stout but had some great features. It was smooth, chocolate, milky and balanced. A good brew all around.

On tap at Club Tavern in Menasha, WI. Pour was engine oil black with a thick dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate, dark burnt grains and oats. Flavor is amazingly blended and full bodied. Very good brew. Would buy again.
