Bottle. Pours with a big bubbled, dark brown head that collapses pretty quick. Flavor is burnt anise are roasted malts, burnt actually. Nice hop bitterness is similar to strong, low grade espresso. As excited as I was to try this, very over rated.

I got this from the Northside Crew -
Even in sunlight the body looked black. The head was a dense, pillowy brown. It had an aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, crushed nuts (Ow!), dark caramel, and amaretto. Thick mouthfeel. The flavor added elements of smoke and molasses to what had already been gathered from the aroma. Throught the drinking, the strong ABV remained well hidden. Quite nice.

Bottle, courtesy Ughsmash. Pours pitch black, with a huge, dark caramel colored fluffy, marshmallow-like head. Very prominent and thick lacing. Looks mouth-watering. Aroma has a giant wave of roasted chocolate, with caramel and molasses oozing afterwards. A trace of vanilla tops things off. Flavors are very rich. Smooth malty character. Overflowing and drippy chocolateness. Roasted qualities finish each sip. Caramel, licorice, brown sugar....complex and delicious. Full-bodied and very soft and extremely drinkable. Velvety tender mouthfeel.

Finally found this beer. I had been anxious to get my hands on it.. sampled a 12 ouncer at dark Lord day 2008 at FFF. Great beer, a little thin.. Dark beer, brown head. Coffee mocha present. shocked that this is a Lieny. Hats off to the brewers for taking steps to make a serious beer.

Thanks to Ughsmash and Schroppfy, who each gave me a bottle. Pours deep brown with a small head. Aroma is tons of dark roasted malt with a lot of coffee, liquorice and dark fruit. Just a bit of (citrus) hops for balance. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, even as it warms. Heavy body and oily texture. Bitter finish.Hats off to Leinenkugel (and even Miller) for their efforts with this ’no apologies’ microbrew.

Pours a dark black that allows some light in the pour. Viscous, Thin brown head. The aroma is rich, sweet, roasty, alcohol, fruity, light soy, molasses, brown sugar. The flavor is rich, intense, roasty, sweet, molasses, soy. Standard impy flavor profile but well done in that regard. Just nothing that makes me go "Wow, I haven’t tasted that before."

The color was dark brown/black. The head was creamy, thin, and dark tan. The aroma was sweet, roasty, molasses, and light soy. The flavor was meaty, soy sauce, and alcohol. The palate was lightly carbonated and full-bodied. The finish was warm.
