Bottled. A black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of soy sauce, wood, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, roasted malt, soy sauce, and alcohol, as well as medium notes of wood, leading to a dry roasted and woody finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Skyview. Pours black and opaque with a light brown head. Salty aroma of hard roasted malts. Solid body, burned dark malts, some vanilla also. Strange salinity. Hard roasted malty bitterness in the finish with some dried fruits. 130909

Pours dark black with a decent brown head. The smell is dark fruit and hops and some slight soy. The taste is more dark fruits with a nice roasty, coffee finish. Sweet, viscous, very tasty and fruity brew that I imagine will improve over the next couple years. This beer has a nice sticky feel in my mouth but doesn’t have as much roasty flavor as most imperial stouts. Hopefully the hops will die down a little but this is very good fresh. Thanks to nflmvp for the trade. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-19-2007 15:59:49

12oz bottle found thanks to xnoxhatex. Picked up 7 bottles last weekend for $3 a piece at a tiny bar 2 blocks from his place in Grand Rapids. Pours dull jet black with a nice mocha froth that fizzles away into a thin layer. Aroma is big licorice, lots of boozy rummy notes, touch of rye bread, bittersweet chocolate 8.5. That is crazy, it tastes very similar to 08 DL. Lots of malt depth, mostly soy, burnt ash, raisin, licorice, bitter dark chocolate, syrupy richness, some rum like booziness, bitter burnt coffee underneath the sweetness. Full bodied, viscous but smooth, just lightly syrupy in the aftertaste, basically no carbonation. Thanks Dev!
