Commercial Description:
The Big Eddy Russian Imperial Stout was brewed at Leinenkugel’s tiny 10th street brewery in Milwaukee. This brew boasts a selection of 11 malts and grains balanced by three different and distinct hops. Dark and complex, with chocolate tones and notes of dark fruits, it is daring yet delicious. Travels well. Ages well.

Pours out black with a small burnt looking head. Aroma is of burnt malts and some strange malty notes. Taste is complex, some chocolate, roasted malt, molasses and a rye-bread taste going on in the background. Interesting....

Pours an extremely dark brown with little head, decent lacing. A whole lot of roasted malt and chocolate, Flavor seems to be lacking a little something, seems like it could use some more carbonation.

Bottle thanks to hopdog. Pours dark as can be with small brown head. Nose of dried fruit and roasted malt. First flavor that hit me was of dried prunes. Very sweet with hints of molassess. Thick texture and mouthfeel nice warmth from the alcohol. Finish lets you know that the hops are still in there.

12oz from my Secret Santa - thanks, Santa!! I don’t know why, but I was expecting a roast bomb. What I got was a very rich, very complex stout with certainly a strong dark malt presence but a complicated flavor palette that includes some smoke, molasses, biting hops, a hint of choc & caramel, and nicely dry finish. Weird, unexpected, multivalent brew, not unlike young Expedition or Abyss. Very impressive stuff from Leinie’s.

Poured black with a brown edge and brown head. Aroma chocolate and roasted malt. Mildly sweet. Sweet roasted malt with chocolate and smoke. Medium to full bodied with a mild-moderate bitterness on the finish.

Bottle. Poured a deep, dark brown with a decent tan head. The aroma was full of dark malt, kind of sweet, with some hints of dark fruit, as well. Flavor was really in line with the aroma. Throw in a little caramel and chocolate. The only thing I have to suggest would be a bit more carbonation. Otherwise, this was a great stout. Alcohol was not noticeable. I was very surprised to see this was by Leinenkugel’s. Get in my belly!!!

bottle at Summits in Cumming, GA. Very excited about seeing this one on the chalkboard at Summits today... I’ve never seen it in GA before. Pours a pitch thick black with a small tan head. Smells like a big malty chocolate bar... Thick body over the palate with a creamy texture. The chocolate and malts really shine through all the way through the finish. Quite delicious. I was not disappointed at all - in fact I was very impressed by this beer. I would like some more...

Bottle: Pretty good. Pours black with a small head. Aroma and flavor of chocolate and coffee. Alcohol flaver and after taste is not as big as most Imp. Stouts (and that is not necessarily a bad thing).
