(Bottle) Pours an inky black color with a small brown head. Aroma of heavy malts, chocolate and burnt toffee. Complex taste includes loads of heavy, dark malts. I could note the distinct taste of rye malts, which added a dry undertone throughout the beer. Some vanilla, nut, chocolate and sweet spices in here as well. Very good palate and mouthfeel, with below average carbonation. The alcohol is well hidden as well. Not quite as strong or potent as Bells Expedition Stout, but at the same time it’s more drinkable and more enjoyable in my opinion. Excellent!

Oily wet pout, dark black, with a nice brown head. VERY fruity smell for a stout! Sweet wheat scent also noted. Almost a juice inital taste, plum, berries or figs as others have noted. Raisens also, all the fruity flavors out shine the basic stouts roasty, coffee, or milky chocolate tastes. Creamy berry aftertaste with a touch of roastiness. This is a unique Imperial Stout in my short experiance. Different, but great, stands out, but in a good way!

Bottle shared by Black95tt. Poured a very nice dark black with a toasty brown head. Lots of dark fruits, figs, plums, and caramelized brown sugar in the aroma. Lots of chocolate malts and oat malt in the flavor profile. Very smooth and easy drinking. Not a bit of off flavors in this beer...very well brewed! And the alcohol is not noticeable at all. Good stuff!

Bottle. Dark, almost black but with a ruby tinge to it. Thought I wouldn’t get a head at all but a small, creamy, light brown head magically appeared after the pour. Perfumey, sweet, almost fruity aroma with a hint of pine and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet chocolate moving to a nutty, roasted malt bitterness and a piney finish. Full bodied and lighlty carbonated makes for a very smooth brew. Better than I expected from a Leinie.

wow! this one was awesome! black body with minimal reddish brown head...dark, dark, dark! aroma of molasses, nuts, caramel, and chocolate..flavor is massively nutty, large in roasted coffee and sweet chocolate...huge molasses backbone! awesome

Very nice Im perial Stout. I enjoyed it from the pour to the finish. Very nice head and refreshing on the palate. High alcohol content did not come through in the flavor. At the price of 7.99 a four at Champanes in Warren, MI, it is very reasonable. Just bought a case so we will see how it ages.

12 oz from BBB63! Nose of chocolate, light vanilla, and a little ripe banana; Balck as a moonless night with a fairly big cinnamon head; flavor has bannanas, hop bitterness, followed ny chocolate, and more hop bitterness. A Hefe Impy Stout!. I love bananas so this is a banana split with alcohol!

(bottle, thanks Skyview) I’ve had this a few times but only small samples, so now that I’ve got a full glass, I decided to rate it. Pours a deep dark black with some ruby around the edges and only a whisp of a tan head that fades away completely. The smell was somewhat odd at first, (I think the alcohol was too much) but that dissipated to a decent smell of port, chocolate, molasses, and light roasted malt. The taste was a nice initial blast of dark fruit sweetness, followed up by some chocolate, that yielded to a roasted malt finish that lingered on the tongue. This finish lasted forever, and just at the very end a nice hop bitterness makes an appearance. The mouthfeel was full on this one, quite a good brew from Leinie’s.
