Commercial Description:
A 100 percent malted lager, “Leinie’s Classic” features Leinenkugel’s own unique blend of two-row and six-row malts and four varieties of hops. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts offer a complex flavor, with four different hops (Cluster, Cascade, Mt. Hood, and Hallertau) to balance the malts. Acknowledging their German heritage, Leinenkugel’s brewed Classic Amber in Reinheitsgebot tradition, where the only ingredients permitted are malts, water, hops, and yeast.

Sampled on draft at Johnny’s Wife’s Place in Jeannette PA this beer poured dark orange-caramel color with a small tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was very faint nutty malts and fruity hops. The flavor was bitter, tart and tangy with notes of caramel, biscuit and fruity hops. The middle turned dryish with a yeasty, chewy undertone. The finish was long, tangy and dry with notes of caramel and fruit. Subtle yet surprisingly complex, I found myself liking this one more than I thought I would. Eminently quaffable.

Crystal clear light amber with an overactive large white head that dissipates quickly leaving minor lacing. Aroma of grains, pale malt, mild caramel and minor adjuncts. Taste is caramel up front and caramel on the back end with the mildest of bitter finishes. I see they mention four hops in the description, whoo-hoo, quadruple hops, lol. They don’t really come through at all, except perhaps with that moderate bitterness, must be mostly cluster hops. I like that Leinie is attempting to make craft beer, but it’s nothing more than Miller’s version of Michelob – if that.

12oz bottle–pours a foamy off white head and amber color with effervescence. Aroma is light/medium malt-caramel/peat/bready, some musty fruit, slight spice hops. Taste is light/medium malt-caramel/peat/bready, some musty fruit, secondary copper/spice hops. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.

12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a clear, amber body with a well-sized, frothy, white head. Smell: Pale malts with a particularly distinct note of toasted grains and far lesser hint of dry caramel. Distint, vague whiff of fruit. Taste: Pale malts and light toasted malts with a touch of graininess and a faint, brief caramel sweetness. Light hints of appleskin and citrus fruitiness. Mild hop flourish of citrus, spice, and earthiness along with a low amount of bitterness, but more than enough to balance out the malts. A bit more grainy on the back half. Finishes dry and lightly crisp. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: While it goes down smooth and easy, it is terribly basic, generic, and simple. One and done for me.

Good, refreshing summer beer. Goes great with my bleu cheese burger and chips. Good flavor and aroma. Nice color and finish. Not extraordinary, just reliable and refreshing. Price was right for this 6-pack of beer.

On tap. Pours a medium amber with a bit head and grainy aromas that remind me of honey and amber malt. That said, they are very faint. Flavor is uninteresting ber ale that is watery with a little bit of metal in the finish.

This is avery ordinary beer. The appearance was excellent. The head formed creamy and filled the glass. Th head laced down the glass. The taste was of malt and a hint of hops. This is much advertised beer for general consumers. I was hoping for much more. The color was a light amber and could be darker.
