Commercial Description:
A 100 percent malted lager, “Leinie’s Classic” features Leinenkugel’s own unique blend of two-row and six-row malts and four varieties of hops. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts offer a complex flavor, with four different hops (Cluster, Cascade, Mt. Hood, and Hallertau) to balance the malts. Acknowledging their German heritage, Leinenkugel’s brewed Classic Amber in Reinheitsgebot tradition, where the only ingredients permitted are malts, water, hops, and yeast.

Pours from 12 oz bottle a pretty basic light amber orange with a finger of puffy off white head. Some metallic malt aroma and grassy hops with a small hint of caramel. Flavour is crisp, mainly malty, and has a hint of hops and a touch of fruity sweetness. Texture is tingly and rough, and leaves a malty and slightly bitter aftertaste. Overall decent, session-able beer.

Having tasted other Leinenkugel beers, I figured this one would be good, but nothing overly special. Happy to say I was wrong! Nice amber color as promised, nice creamy head that stays to the bottom of the glass. All kinds of hops aroma in the nose - orange, grass, spice - with a nice balance of malt as well. Noble hops dominate the sense of smell here. Nice body, maybe a tad too heavy, but still good. Very good malt flavor, with hints of baked bread, raisins, and caramel. Really good hop flavor, perhaps a bit too citrusy. While Noble hops come through in the aroma, it is clearly Cascade hops that take over the hop flavor. Overall is somewhat similar in taste to Sam Adams. By all means, this is a very good effort, and if you like Sam Adams Boston Lager, or Brooklyn Lager, by all means, give this one a try!

A light amber pour with a big white head. It has a toasty malt aroma with some mild citrus hops. The taste lightly sweet with some roasted notes toward the finish. It has a light body with lively carbonation and a short finish.

12fl oz bottle poured into a lager glass. Golden amber with two finger creamy white head. Aroma is grassy hops, slight grainy malt. Flavor is light malt, grassy hops. Light-bodied, fizzy. Medium bitter finish. Decent; reminds me of Samuel Adams Boston Lager.

Clear golden orange with a firm white head. Sweet malty aroma. Surprising hops in the flavor. A bit of citrus, orange, full malts, and biscuit. Bubbly mouth that works for this one. Great? No. Surprisingly enjoyable? Yes.
