A creamy, dark lager is something I’m not sure if I’ve had before. I’m a fan of Scotch and Brown ales. The tastes and feels similar. Sweet with hints of chocolate(?) lactose(?) Heavy, yeastey body of a lager. Highly acidic. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA

Notes of caramel from the roasted malts. Pretty ordinary dunkel, but a well balanaced beer. demitriustown (703), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Out of a Led Zepplin pint glass from Hardings in Kalamazoo, MI. Brownish/black pour with a minimal tan head. Aroma is of caramel, roasted malts, a bit of chocolate, and heavy cream. Taste is creamy, malty, a bit of chocolate, and lighter of the style. Palate is sweet, short, and somewhat watery. Overall, It’s not the best Dunkel I’ve ever had, but it’s about what I expected from Leinenkugels. Decent. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2006 Decent but very light for the style. Has a bit of a spicy hint on the tongue at first, with some strong hints of dark raisinated fruits, some chocolate and dark wheat bread, with just a bit of caramel in the malt. cheapdark (2047), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2006 Updated: Mar 29, 2008Purchased at Beaver Valley Beverage in Monaca for 75 cents per 12 oz bottle. Nice and dark with a red glow in my three stooges glass but the flavor was a little weaker than I expected. Not too much bubble or fizzyness. Yuengling’s black and tan is a much better beer. A little watery, somewhat like Mich Amber Bock. Not bad for a dark beer, rather friendly and fun. Dickinsonbeer (3499), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Old notes from Axilla’s impy night. Pours more of a dark amber/light brown moslty clear and a tan head. Light caramel aroma and hints of nuts and roast. Ligth caramel flavor nutty, toffee, munich, bready, and light chocolate malts and a clean hoppy bitterness in the end. Light body and high carbonation. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 25, 2006 Dark brown colour with an almond frothy head. The nose is brown sugar and malty. I’ve got to say that I was surprised by some of the higher ratings that this beer got. I thought that it was a bit too spritzy, thin, and lacking in quite a few other areas such as hops and malt thickness. Not a great dunkel. drunkenbum84 (70), kenosha, Wisconsin, USA
