Smell is lacking with some caramel notes. Taste is watery with next to no flavor. Some light malt notes but limited. Watery body. Overall not good. sfontain (506), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2006 Dark, nearly black, with a big, creamy, eggshell head; head quickly fades to nothingness. Aroma is lightly malty and actually displays a touch of roast; a little dark fruit and just barely buttery. Flavor is still fairly unimpressive, but this is drinkable; malt and chocolate and barely licorice, yet still slightly unpleasant. Medium-thin, but still manages to be sticky. I will never buy Leinenkugels again. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2006 This is by far my favorite Leinie’s beer. It’s dark, but it’s pretty thin and easy-drinking. I love the deep brown/black color and the wonderful toasted/caramel aroma. Creamy Dark is extremely smooth in the mouthfeel department, perhaps a bit thin, but it makes that 5th and 6th pint very easy to drink. The flavor is not overwhelming, but very tasty and again, caramelly. Imagine taking a bit of a Caramello candy bar square. You know how sometimes if you don’t bite quite right, the string of caramel runs and stretches out sticking in your beard? Yeah, it’s kind of like that. Not annoyingly though. Try this beer if you’re new to the Leinenkugel stable. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA

Strong coffee flavor is noted, and it really adds to the expericne of taste/smell. I would agree that its body isnt overally thick, but none the less worth a try again and again... I was impressed with the rich coffee color and sturdy, pleasant tasting head that had just the right amount of foam. The flavor was mild and smooth, like espresso, but not as full as a dark lager should be. The aroma was mild and should have been fuller. Overall, this beer was very mild tasting, in fact, too mild. The beer tasted good and I enjoyed it, but I was looking for a fuller, richer taste than I received. Overall, a good beer, better than average and much better than the other Leinie’s brews. I don’t know why they call it creamy. The viscosity of this beer is heavier than most commercial brews, but still not up to the standards of some microbrews in Wisconsin. Creamy, beige head that sticks to my glass. Nose of roasted malt. Light-bodied - almost watery - with distinct, lightly sweet accents of roasted malt and an almost coffeeish edge. Basically no bitterness. Rather smooth and lovely. For being a Miller affiliate Leinenkugel really produces some nice and goodlooking brews. 280306 MonsterMash (58), North Tonowanda, New York, USA
