Leinie’s which is brewed only a couple hundred miles away is a nice alternative. Very strong on taste, with a very nice nut and chocolate aroma, almost gold colored, slightly bubbly head. Deep roasty malts provide a pleasant and mild aroma... seemed like there was some artificial sugar added as well. Roasty malts in the flavor, too... little coffee, some chocolate, nuttiness... nice, but nothing memorable. Smooth across the middle, but cola-like with an oddly-placed dry bitterness at the back end. Overall a solid effort and easy-drinkin’. Light, roasty aroma with hints of coffee and malt. The flavor is roasty and chocolaty with a smooth malty middle and a sweet and roasty finish. Mildly bitter aftertaste and kind of watery. Aroma is nutty roast malt, with some molasses and sourish fruit - a bit sweet. Taste is like molasses and cola mixed - sweet, burnt and bitter. Mouthfeel is acrid, syrupy, thin and still. Not a very good dunkel. Smells okay.
