It isn’t quite a stout, and not really a porter either. I do like the flavor and balance it makes between a beer for the masses and a beer for those with taste buds. nchoward (24), Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2005 This has a great pour, clear brown with a slight offwhite head that really didn’t last. The taste is more disappointing than the pour. There are some good malts in there that give it a slight chocolate sweetness ... but not much. The hops are there just enough to give it a dry finish, but there is no hops aroma or taste other than the sour bite SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 13, 2005 Pours very much like cola - both in color and carbonation. Aroma is milk chocolate and refined sugars, although notes are subtle at most. Mouthfeel is semi-smooth and all tastes are mild. Seems like a sweet stout was mixed with a lager. So-so. I’ve never tried this before so I suggested he buy this so that I could rate it. He had a Yuengling black and tan there and the 2 beers were undistinguishable. Now I’m wondering what marks I gave that beer. JK (2952), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 23, 2005 Dark, but very little sweetness, which I expect from a dunkel. Light smoke. Significantly improved by blending 2 parts with 1 part berry weiss; bringing out smoke and fruit flavors. Tmoney99 (4740), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Flavor was much the same as aroma with a nutty tone and a good creamy finish. Good for normal pub draft.
