| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Nutty and chocolatey. Pours dark with a descent head and looks like it should be thick, but it’s rather thin and watery in the mouth. Not enough malt, but you could do worse though. A lot worse. roder60 (1034), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Pours a clear brown with a good amount of froathy tan head. Aroma is a little sweet and wheaty. Taste is malty and sweet but kinda watery and not much in the way of depth or complexity. Overall, not bad, but not too great either. "Creamy Dark", eh? What does that connote exactly, what might you think they’re going for, a porter, a scwarzbier, a tasty dunkel, surely not a stout.
Wel, let’s check it out and see, eh?
Color, not brown, not black, but certainly darker than pale yellow...it’s more of a deep reddish hue, with a creamy, fluffy off-whitish head.
Aroma: not bad at all, soft, creamy, light, but pleasant and not the least bit bad.
Taste: just the smallest bit of character, before thinning out forever, a whisper of darkish malty feel, with no particular flavors or desciptors coming to mind, maybe ...no, not really, but...not that either, really...maple syrup, charcoal, sausages, I don’t know now, I’m just grabbing away...Light/medium body, rather blase finish, precious little texture, not a thing that really catches ones attention, ever, just sort of limpid and lame.
Not a terribly beer, really, and I guess I’d opt for it if the pickin’s were slim, but nothing I’d ever really want to have, but...that’s just me...enjoy, Leinie’s Lovers, enjoy!

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 27, 2004 Bottle: Deep brown with initial frothy head which dies quickly and leaves little lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and walnut, light burnt and buttery malts, floral hops, and an earthy yeast ester. The taste is straight forward slightly sweet and nutty with a acidic undertone. Lightly bitter and a papery feel on the finish. Okay a guess, nothing to make want to try it again. Lubiere (4552), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 29, 2004 You can either say it has a mild smokey roasted flavor or you can say it is a pretty good beer that has been watered down. I was disappointed because I expect more from Leinenkugel and it could be a great beer if it had more substance.
