Creamy mouthfeel and a slightly toasty burnt malty flavor. Trying to get tasting notes out of something this bland is like trying to squeeze sweet honey from a rock. It’s not happening. Smells of faint malts with a nice dark, nearly opaque pour and a slightly off white colored head. You can taste notes of creme but the beer itself doesn’t seem to have much substance. It should be just a bit richer after every taste. This was my first dark beer, ahh a long time ago. trayns (242), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a great looking with a creamy head. Taste is smoother and creamy for sure, a little subdued however. A little thinner that expected and desired. mmbt7 (26), Moorhead, Minnesota, USA

Good as a transition beer to try and get your friends off the Bud and Miller light and on to real beer as opposed to colored water..... shawnm213 (1002), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 26, 2009 Before I started getting into craft beer, this use to be one of my favorite beers. I always drank it from the bottle and assumed it looked something like a stout – I mean they call it creamy dark. Imagine my surprise as I pour out this clear copper liquid with a medium tan head that turns back into Leine’s in a heartbeat. They aroma was of grain, caramel and malt. It does have a creamy texture to go with caramel, light toasted malt and a dry finish that has an artificial sweetener kind of taste to it. The alcohol protrudes back up the tongue on the finish, not real fond of the finish. To think, I use practically be a spokesman for Leinie’s since it was way better than Miller, now it’s just that old beer I use to drink. johnnyoski (164), Macomb, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Dark brown color with an off-white head. Bitter, burnt aroma. The flavor is dominated by roasted malts with a subtle caramel sweetness. It finishes slightly bitter. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Very drinkable brew. One of the better Leinie offerings. Meatmallet (126), Salem, Illinois, USA

It left quite a bit of lacing on the sides of my glass.Smells like sweet caramel and roasted and chocolate malts are a little light. Taste is rather light and tasty. Light flavors of roasted grain with dry finish. Some mild hopping at the end.
