Coffee, apple, cherry flavors. Finish is almost nonexistent. Here’s the problem... it tastes like a lager that’s had stuff added to it. Not a fan. | 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Aug 6, 2004 Updated: Jun 27, 2007This one at least sounded appetizing. Sampled from a 12 oz bottle the beer poured a thin black color with a small tan head. There was a sour skunky scent and an odor reminiscent of rotting vegetables. The flavor was dry malt, mild hops and a slightly skunky aftertaste. Pretty blah but barely drinkable. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2004 Bottle - thanks to BadgerBen! Pours dark brown with orange and garnet highlights and a large foamy head that diminished quickly to a thin ring of bubbles. Aroma is malty, slightly nutty, molasses along with an odd metallic scent. Flavor is sweet, dark malts followed by a nice hop wave and lingering bitter finish. Medium body, mild carbonation. Not bad for a lager and a macro owned brew! Tastes malty, with some nuts, malt, and slight toffee at the finish. burgerlicious (308), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 28, 2004 It smelled like a porter. The body was dark with a light head. The taste was as creamy as I was hoping. Not a very strong-tasting dark. It didn’t do too much for me. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jun 26, 2004 Sour caramel malt aroma. Deep amber in color. Quickly dissipating head, some slight lacing. Sour caramel malt flavor with a touch of hops. This beer blows. antisnobJP (275), St. Michael, Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Bottle. Root beer colored with a small, quickly fading head. Not much aroma, standard American lager with a little roast maltiness. Thin mouthfeel, average carbonation. Flavor delivers what the aroma gives you. A hint of some coffee and hop flavors are in there, also. A little sweetness in the finish. Real easy to drink, and a nice break from normal macrolager, but I don’t think I would seek it out outside of the variety pack.
