Jun 2, 2004 Updated: Nov 19, 2004Pours a deep brown, almost black with a short lasting creamy head. No real strong aromas. Flavor is (big suprise) creamy. A touch of bitter, a touch of carmel. I really like this beer. For this price this has become one of my session brews!

Jun 1, 2004 near black color with a smaller beige head. Dark malt and sourdough aroma. Dark caramel flavors with a touch of fruit and weak coffee. Thin feel. A cross between a dunkle, porter and brown stout.

May 17, 2004 12 oz bottle; Water Street Grill, Stevens Point, WI: ruddy brown with a bubbly, only slightly creamy tan head. Light, nutty aroma that has an air of cleanness only a lagered beer can provide. A bit thin on the plate, but does offer some nice coffee and toasted wheat flavours. Though the name is misleading, this is a decent and very drinkable Dunkel.

May 3, 2004 Along with Leinie’s Big Butt, the Guinness of the midwest. Very close to Guinness in flavor and appearance. A good fill in for Guinness when you can’t spend 10 bucks on a 6.

May 2, 2004 Poured a small head with little lasting power, no lacing. Color was a very dark red/brown. Not much aroma and I got a good hint of some roated malt in the flavor. This is a pretty good beer for the money ($3.99/6 on sale).

Apr 23, 2004 Pours dark brown with a large, thick head. The aroma worried me - it was not very strong and somewhat metallic. The flavor redeemed this one, however. This is a very good, very reasonable beer. Flavors of chocolate, nuts, and smokiness. The flavor isn't overwhelmingly strong, just mellow and smooth. Too bad I can only get this in my area in a Leinie variety pack...
