Nov 18, 2003 I thought this beer was pretty good. It was also fairly cheap (5 buck a sixer). Dark pour, tan head. Decent maltiness and some hops. Chocolate and caramel. Good bang for the buck beer.

Oct 3, 2003 Very tasty, has a nice head a good aftertaste. There is a different taste when drinking from bottle, much better from glass.

Sep 27, 2003 This is a very attractive beer that just did not excite my tastebuds. It was rather un-inspiring. It did have a nice rich color and an attractive head. It did not seem "creamy" at all, and it had a peculiar aftertaste which I can't quite put my finger on, but it was almost like chocolate flavored lemon juice. Sounds weird, but that's about the best I can do. It was definitely an acidic finish. Not one of my favorites and not one I will try again soon.

Sep 21, 2003 Updated: Feb 3, 2004Too much head that dissapeared quickly, but underneath was a tasty beer. Quite guinnes like, but less bitter while having a good smooth coffee/chocolate flavor. Well named. A nice step into darker beers and gives Miller some credibility.
Update - quality varies quite a bit even within a 6 pack. Some were more foamy or bitter; but the good ones were great; smooth and rich with adequate head and lacing.

Sep 5, 2003 For a Dunkel, this beer is lacking in its nose and flavor.It poured a small sized tan head that contained fine-small bubbles that quickly dissipated.The body was so dark brown that I could not tell if there was any carbonation in this beer.The nose was malty with a light roasted nose.The flavor was too mild for a Dunkel and it was lightly chocolate.The mouthfeel was smooth and thin with a watery texture.There was fair lacing with this beer.

Sep 5, 2003 This brew poured a medium head of finely sized creamy light brown bubbles that left behind a good lacing and a semi-opaque dark brown colored body with no apparent carbonation. Its aroma is disappointingly mild and its mouth feel is smooth witha hint of flavor yet thin and somewhat watered down. If it as a bit thinker I'd like it more. It is lacking in the body for a good dark beer. The flavor is there but need to be stonger. It is mildly malted with chocolate and caramel notes. Still it is rather good, but it had so much going for it I just wanted it to be a bit better.

Sep 2, 2003 The name says it all. Almost a stout with a great creamy flavor. The complexion of smoothness of Murphy's Stout but definitely it's own beer.
