IlanMan (522), Winona, Minnesota, USA May 7, 2007 A medium quality dark beer that satisfies many senses. Palate is thick and aroma is equivalent. Flavor is less appealing than I had imagined but not bad at all.
AdamGott (163), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA Aug 23, 2008 tastes a little thin - pours dark brown/chocolate color - flavors of richly roasted malt. I really wanted to like this beer but it is just average thejoeshow (106), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a hint of golden highlights. There is a frothy off white/cream colored head that falls to a nicely lacing ring. The aroma is heavy on the dark malts. That is about all i get out of the nose on this beer. Flavor is full of nicely roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Very smooth and finishes really clean. This might be my favorite of their year round beers. Baumgartner (66), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2008 Draft at the Leines Lodge in Chippewa Falls, WI. 7oz Glass. Very dark brown that it is almost black with an off white head. Smooth dard roasted notes in aroma. Great tasting brew. Nice lacing on the glass when finished. bluemooner (75), Rogers, Minnesota, USA Jul 31, 2008 Pours a deep brown color with off-white, foamy head. Very smooth, creamy lager, with the flavors of roasted malts and an almost coffee-like taste. Surprisingly smooth palate making this quite an easy beer to drink. Another fantastic beer from Leinenkugels. agillespie81 (100), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 16, 2008 Extremely dark brown color......almost completely opaque. Somewhat thin, though fluffy head......very bold aroma of roasted malt. Front contains a much lighter malt flavor than the aroma would suggest. Creamy mouthfeel, with just a hint of crispness......nice roasted malt flavor in the back. Though lagers will always be lighter than ales, this dark lager makes a solid effort to cross styles.
