| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 10, 2008 I’m surprised at the conflicting ratings... there might be some QC issues?? Rich orangey bronze color with amazing clarity, thin soapsud head and scant lace. Props for a stunning label. Absolutely amazing toasted malt nose evokes pie crust and cheerios. Flavor mimics and surpasses the aroma, adding hints of toasted pumkin seeds and the clean earthy sense of logs rotting in a damp forest. That’s only the second or third "10" for taste I’ve given in 400+ ratings. The beer finishes with the gentlest kiss of bitterness and an impression of stewed fruits. A merely adequate palate… a little flabby and “stale” … is my only complaint. Probably the finest ’fest I’ve tasted. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2008 Pours a light copper color with a quickly fading light beige head. Smell is toasty bread, a bit nutty almost, and dusty malt with a touch of metal. Taste is smooth toasted malts, and a bit of nuttiness, and some metal. Light bitterness to balance, but a very smooth drinker all around. Medium body and carbonation. Not too bad, and gets me in the mood for some cooler fall weather, but the metallic flavor/smell definitely brings it down... MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 6, 2008 12 oz bottle. Moderate maltiness with little hop aroma. Clear slightly orange golden with small tan head. Rather sweet - malty with moderate bitterness. Little too bitter for style. Medium body and mouthfeel. Finish is sweet but not really malty and bitter. Not a bad beer but a little too sweet and bitter for the style (sugary sweet and astringent bitterness). pkbites (335), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 0.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 2/20 | Oct 5, 2008 Orange pour with pathetic head. A stinky, metallic/fish nose. Flavor is thick with some hops but little malt. Holy shit! I’m truly shocked at this. It’s bad. Really bad! Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 5, 2008 This was a lot better than what I’m used to from Leinenkugel (not my favorite brewery) but still, it wasn’t spectacular. It was pretty well balanced for an Octoberfest. The malt selection was good. The hops really add a lot to this one. Pick it up this fall and give it a shot. dchmela (1452), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Light copper pour with a thin white head. Bread dough and cardboard aroma. Crisp malty flavor with a hint of hops. I found it bland and tasteless and drain poured it. djd07 (751), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a medium frothy off white head. The aroma is a light malt with sweet caramel and fruit. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a bitter hop and a spicy lingering caramel. A decent marzen from Leinenkugel. grandet (486), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA
