It makes me think of what original american lagers must have tasted like back in the day, with solid malts and crisp hops vikingguy (154), Chaska, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Sep 30, 2008 A good Oktoberfest Marzen. The three Oktoberfest beers I regularly drink in the fall are the Sam Adams, Schell, and Leinenkugels. I think the Leinenkugels has a bit of a lighter body than the other two and has a little sweeter profile. Very drinkable.
Copper color, white diminishing head. Nutty, caramel, honey flavor with a pleasant sweet aftertaste. ericandersnavy (1141), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2008 Crystal clear amber color. Malty roasted aroma almost bread like. Slightly sweet caramel in flavor with a finishing but lingering hoppy bitterness. My overall thoughts: an average marzen with nothing too outstanding. GMUcrew7 (377), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Pours translucent light amber color with a small head that dissipates immediately. Interesting sweet and toasty malt aroma with toffee and biscuit. Roasted malt dominated flavor, caramel and toffee backbone. Palate is thin, but an otherwise decent malt heavy beer for the Oktoberfest season.
