Commercial Description:
A traditional Marzen brewed with 2-Row Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts. The malts give it a hearty character and deep amber color. Tettnanger and Perle hops provide a well-balanced, drinkable finish prefect for Fall celebrations.

Very suprised this isn’t rated higher. I love the Oktoberfest beers and I’ve had many in my day and this one is still my favorite. One of the few beers my father and I agree on being top of the line!

This is a middling "light" version of a Marzen. It’s nowhere near strong enough in aroma or flavor to truly be an Oktoberfest, but it’s pretty decent when September rolls around and there aren’t other Marzen options available.

Pours an amber body, with an off white head that dissapates quickly. Aromas of rich spices and roasty malts. Taste had some roasted malt character with some clove undertones. Not bad, average at best for the style.

The Dan journal #49. Tasted 10/22/06. 12oz bottle. Clear and amber. Spiral white head. Bready vegetal spicy nose. Notes of vanilla and caramel. Light to medium bodied. Palate hits sweet then dulled malts. Bright bitter finish that ebbes out into a sticky aftertaste. Abrasive and not very smooth transitions. Meh...

A poor example of this style, which is hard to do. Fairly light caramel aroma and taste. Not overly sweet but than again neither is water. Pass.

Rated 9/11/06: Lousy marzen presented by a usually decent brewer. Aroma is non-existent, appearance is good with a nice bronze color and small creamy head. average feel here with a weak finish. Flavor is decent for a standard lager but falls fairly short for an oktoberfest. I have a sneaking suspicion that Leinenkugel’s may be falling to the wayward hands of their owner, I only hope their other brews aren’t being compromised by cheap ingredients.

Straight from the bottle. It pours a medium amber color, small head that dropped fast. Aroma is nearly absent. A hint of alcohol and corn. Taste of semi-sweet malt and barely any hops. Very watery finish with a clean aftertaste. This is more of a "Light Oktoberfest" at best. Not what I expected from an Oktoberfest.
