| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 22, 2004 A classic beer from an old Wisconsin brewery. Smells light, with mild traces of honey. Tastes clean and full - like a MGD without all the preservatives. A good brew to get for summer softball games. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2004 Yes, it’s thin and the head disappears quickly. The hops are lame and there are no malty undertones. However, when served cold, this is one of the best semi-local (in midwest) session beers--as long as you begin with a few of your favorites. Use it like cannon fodder. The flavor is mild and crisp and entirely inoffensive. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2004 Pale yellow. Thin head. Mild hops nose. Mildly acrid wheat flavor. Thin finish with slight musty aftertaste. All of that sounds bad but overall this is suprisingly good, with a good flavor that I will come back to if I feel like a pale lager. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2004 farily light yellow in color w/ a very typical beer scent nothing really distinguished in it though. The palate is fairly middle of the road w/ a flavor that is pretty light almost overly watered down w/ hints of bitternesss but a very clean finish DrnkMcDermott (1865), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 6, 2004 Updated: Aug 11, 2005Bottled. Actually much better than most the usual mega lagers. Slightly darker than expected. A nice sweet malty taste. Still falls into the "Oo-oo-ooh, hops are too scary for me" territory, but basically okay. Another bottle, sampled 8/11/05: I’m starting to find the Leinie brands a little more fun than I thought. This is kind of corny, but not overly sweet like most cheap beers, and there is a bit of hop bitterness. As many raters here have attested, they tend to rate higher when drinking it under the right circumstances: who’s going to be sampling Westy 12 on a pontoon in Lake Okoboji? There’s a bit of an aroma of malt but not much. Pretty smooth, perhaps even watery. Doesn’t taste too bad, malt and corn with a touch of hop bitterness. At least it finishes clean, so damage is minimal.
