Had it on tap and the brewery, all over town, and in the bottle. Always a what is expected. Just a solid Wisconsin Beer! Frank (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA

There's nothing special but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. I prefer Leiney's Northwoods lager. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Nov 23, 2002 Had a few of these in bottles. Faint nose of toasted malt, spruce, and perfumed resin. Pours a light sparkling golden. The large fluffy thick white head is mostly diminishing with good lacing. The flavor is thin with a weak nutty finish typical of the underachieving Am Standard style. The light watery body is fizzy with a dryish finish. Easily forgettable as with most representatives of this style. grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA

Has some fruity flavors and a little tiny bite of hops at the end. Got it on sale for $1.99 a six pack of bottles a few months ago! Who can pass that up? Murph06 (121), Illinois, USA

Nice flavor, but not outstanding. Some hoppiness and no rice, thank goodness--wink wink. Good head developement. Would be my 2nd choice for North American Lager behind LaBatt’s. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 21, 2002 miller’s country cousin has nice nostalgic packaging. it’s supposedly still brewed to spec by the leinie family brewers, so we’re permitted to believe it’s the same recipe. whoopdeedo. therein lies the paradox: in order to have survived the dark ages of american brewing, when virtually all domestic beers became--because of cut throat national marketing by the likes of miller-- merely blue collar, backyard barbeque, straight-from-the-can, low brow remedies for summer yard work, it had to offer a bland ’refreshing’ product. so in effect, they’re ’preserving’ something i contend was very compromised long ago. better to exploit thier miller sponsorship to produce more daring brews. just, you know, MHO. anyway, here’s a popcycle stick yellow lager, typical head. aroma is grainy and waxy with dry corn cobs and a very subtle suggestion of fruit along the lines of golden raisins. aggressive carbonation on the tongue seems boorish unless you happen to be sweating like hell’s receptionist--then i admit it could be interpreted as refreshing in a scouring kind of way, especially since it’s backed by so much taaaasty water. dry with a grassy corn taste and a vague lemony bitterness. drink it fast and belch real loud good buddy.
