jarlbartar (88), Janesville, Wisconsin, USA Jul 27, 2007 Poured a transparent copper with a medium head and left good lacing. Aromas of lightly roasted malts and spices like clove. Taste of sweet roast malt, light mouthfeel. Aftertaste was kind of earthy but cleaned up quickly. Not too bad, one of their better beers.
FlssmrBrewAlum (359), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2009 12 oz bottle from the variety pack in the girlfriend’s mother’s basement fridge that I put there. Pours a nice amber hue, largely transparent, with a moderate white head that dissipates to a smaller amount. Aromas are malty, subtle, crisp, with maybe a touch of spice. Taste starts a touch bitter, moving to some nice bready maltiness and a touch of spice. Body is fairly light with a nice bitterness, sessionable, well built Leinies brew. A decent alternative that is well appreciated when all you have is macro yellow lagers staring you in the face. Travlr (427), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 3, 2009 This was actually a sought after beer when I was in college in the Midwest in the 80s. Of course, we usually drank PBR or Red White and Blue. This is a notch up from those. Barely. badwhale (39), Bitterville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2008 Bottle to glass. Malty with a bit of bite. Kinda falls flat. Color a nice red raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2008 Nice deep, dark red color. Nice foamy head. not much in the way of an aroma. Flavor is that of a typical lager -not bad but not great either. jcwattsrugger (4272), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Dec 20, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a big rich off white head and copper color. Aroma is yeasty, grain. Taste is not good, wet cardboard, some aspirin. Thanks jwc215 for picking this out.
