Served so cold it’s likely to give you a headache. Dry citrus aroma and taste with a little bit of bitter malt. Well, it’s not bad, but Leinie’s makes better than this. NeonLX (258), Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 14, 2004 On tap at "Cheeseburger in Paradise" restaurant in MIddleton, WI, where it's called "Island AleI. Amber colored with little detectable head (at least by the time the waitress got it to our table). Mild aroma. First taste is kind of sour with a weak maltiness. Fizzy. Some hops in the finish. It’s probably better than the macros on tap at this place so if we ever eat there again, I’ll probably order it. JPDIPSO (4908), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2004 Tap @ Brett Favre Steakhouse. Light brown color with a moderate bone color head. Dry caramel and nut aroma. Light sweet caramel flavor with a rather dry malt middle and finish. Quite mild and dry for an ale. I need to do some research to see if this is actually the same as Leinenkugel’s Special Ale. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 12, 2004 Draft at the Polonaise. Pleased to see something new in this over-the-top, lost-in-time Polish restaurant, even if it’s just an ordinary amber. Dark, a bit watery-looking; slightly smoky, caramel malts, good body. Terrific accompaniment to the meaty heart-clogging food, but fairly boring alone. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2004 Tap, from notes when I worked in Green Bay in 2000-2002. Pours amber, with a malty, caramel aroma. Tastes like a typical amber, with some creaminess, sweet caramel, and toffee at the finish. Not bad. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 7, 2004 Draft - as Ted's Ale at Montgomery Inn in Florence, KY. Pretty much an American Standard look, maybe a little deeper color. A little hop and malt in the nose. One of the oddest tasting beers I've had. It was a bit fruity, which is okay, but all the flavor was at the front of the tongue. It was a very odd sensation and I really didn't care for it. Maybe the keg was off or something because many of the other reviews are pretty good, but this one really did nothing for me. Braudog (3766), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 18, 2004 Drank as the Split Rock Ale; Amber beer with a standing head. Stout malt aroma that's followed with a surprisingly fruity hop character. Pretty good.
