Gypsy19 (603), California, USA Sep 10, 2008 A tasty brew with apricot and blueberries in the forefront. Yeah, blueberries. Who’da thunk? There’s little more to speak of other than that, yet I still believe this is slightly underrated. Would have again if the opportunity presented itself and I’m in the mood for a light ale. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Sep 8, 2008 Don’t get me wrong: I will drink this almost any time. But the more I drink, the more I am inclined to use the word ’cloying’ on this beverage - a word I have never used. Very smooth, very fruity (like Fruity Pebbles, as my Utah kin like to say) like oranges and apple juice. The best or worst thing to happen to the western US in some time. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2008 Poured a cloudy yellow color below a thin white head. Sweet orange peel scent. Light citrus flavor with oranges and banana combined with the feel in the mouth made me think of watered down pulpy orange juice with alcohol. joshiez (48), USA Sep 2, 2008 I’m not really big into wheat beers....and most of the time I think its because of a strong soapy taste....and this beer is the biggest offender of all. It tastes like someone took dishwater and poured it into a bottle. Terrible taste, hard to swallow and nothing really redeeming here at all. Yechh. DerBiermeister (504), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Sep 1, 2008 I just broke wind (so the rating here or the beer’s aroma) might be less than good.
The appearance is mediocre, the flavor is mediocre, the palate is mediocre, the overall impression is that this is far inferior to the Berry Weiss bier by Leinenkugel’s.
Man...stinks. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA Aug 28, 2008 Cloudy straw colored with a white head. Big fruity aromas - citrus more than anything else. Wheat spicyness and citrus flavors. A little too much of everthing and not enough balance. Cruzan59 (197), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 27, 2008 Like Fruity Pebbles in a bottle...I think I may have had this on tap and liked it a little better. RickS95 (32), Evansville, Indiana, USA Aug 25, 2008 After drinking a lot of fruity wheat beers lately, this was my first taste of a "normal" beer in a couple of months.
Though I’ve enjoyed the fruity beers, it was nice to have a "real" beer again.
It had a nice easy smell, nothing bitter.
The taste was great. After all the fruity beers of late, I expected a normal beer to taste slightly bitter, but due to the wheat, it was really smooth, almost sweet without even a hint of bitter in the aftertaste.
It felt great in the mouth. It didn’t seem highly carbonated like all the fruit beers I’ve had lately, but it was very refreshing all at the same time; giving my mouth an almost "clean" feel.
This was a beer I could have easily knocked back a few more of before calling it a night. It had a gentle sweetness, but not like the fruity beers that leave you a bit overwhelmed after just one. Each drink made you look forward to the next one.
