Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 10, 2008 On tap at Henry’s 12th Street Tavern in Portland, OR--Poured a hazy, soapy wit -like body with a creamy white head. Nose of Fruity Pebbles cereal. Chemical, medicinal, syrupy, artificially sweetened textures. Eh! Breworthy (14), USA Jul 7, 2008 Aroma is nice, sweet citrus, with a hint of coriander spice.
The appearance was quite off-putting. Flecks pervaded this beer, including throughout the quickly diminishing head. Not average yeast sediment common with some wheats, but a thick, flaky solid floating through the beer.
The flavor also is thoroughly disappointing, as a sour almost fake, plastic taste overwhelms your senses. The aftertaste just echoes the shortcomings of the precursing flavors.
Palate is fine, but all the other aspects of the beer dwarf this moderate achievement.
This was not a good beer, not for its style or in general. I couldn’t even finish one of them, even though I attempted to give it three different chances. The other three went into my drain. I think they were closer to bottling something else yellow rather than a sunset. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap at Old Chicago (Brandon, FL). Pours a hazy golden color with a one finger white, foamy head that dissipates rapidly. Aroma: Slightly fruity with notes of straw, grass, yeast, bread. Flavor: stale ripe fruit, flowers, straw, grass. Light-bodied with bitter notes on finish. bonbright7 (173), Bellport, New York, USA Jul 6, 2008 I tried this to unearth what last summer’s big news was about this beer. It looked okay in the glass and the aroma said it was a wheat beer, but the first taste started like a thin imitation. The after taste was sugary like cereal sugar and not that interesting to complete, though I did to see if it just me. vikingbeercbus (34), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 20 oz draft with orange slice. Pours hazy orange golden with a thin mostly diminishing head. Nose is citrus, lemon, some lime. Taste is similar, with a bit of pepper? could be the coriander coming through. Palate is a bit thin, but overall decent beer. Not great not bad, but it would hardly leave me speechless. maniac4016 (114), bill clinton, Iceland Jul 5, 2008 very fruity, blueberries, fruity pebbles come to mind, about as far from a traditional wheat beer as hillary clinton is to being hetro-sexual blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 5, 2008 bottle, nice golden color, flavor is sweet blueberry and lemon, finish is good marklee (1), Newport, Kentucky, USA does not count Jul 5, 2008 Drunk poured from a bottle. Distinct scent, and flavors, of citrus; orange, perhaps lime. Carbonation and head fade away in the first few minutes. Lighter with a near perfect bite. It tastes, and drinks, the way that I believe an unfiltered wheat beer should. I will likely purchase this beer again. If you are looking for a nice staple summer beer, you should give this a try. All the best...
