LiebeBier (788), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Jun 26, 2008 Draft - I remember when Leinenkugel made an outstanding Wheat Beer(1997). This beer is gross. I don’t want to drink a beer that tastes like stripper perfume smells. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pours cloudy dark yellow with a foamy/frothy white head. Has a nice aroma of blueberries, wheat and a little coriander and orange. The flavor disappointed as it is worse than the aroma, but its ok. The flavor is of blueberries upfront then the orange takes over and a hint of coriander. The body is watery and there is a slightly unpleasant aftertaste. I must say I was surprised at the taste after having this delightful aroma. Not bad and better than many other wheat beers mass produced such as blue moon, but nothing special. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jun 25, 2008 bottle. Aroma seemed an almost forced flavorful berry orange like. Aromawas like a wrigley’s gum fruitiness. Definately drinkable was this orange looking beer with manufactured orange & berry fruitiness taste, yet I didnt mind finishing the bottle. Still a 2.9 punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2008 This is a beer that starts well and begins to weigh on your mind. Everything about it seems somewhat artificial, from the citrusey flavor and strong wheat tint. Generally about par in its appearance (light white head, darkish yellow). Not bad, but you just can’t drink too much of it, else it just gets old. NJBeerman013 (764), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jun 23, 2008 Draft at the ballpark. A bit of a hazy, murky brew. This beer is true to style in look, aroma, and flavor. The aroma is a bit fruity (orange/lemon), a bit spicy, and a bit sweet. The flavor following the same lines has notes of bittersweet citrus, spicy notes, cereal grains, and a touch of sweetness (honey). All in all a nice summer beer. rob6239 (25), Ontario, Canada Jun 22, 2008 I can’t get this locally and had it with a friend. I thought I detected a licorice aroma. Tasted hint of blueberry and maybe peach. RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 Poured a hazy orange color with a slight head. Slight bready aroma. Tasted a little bready, a little yeasty, a little citrusy with a nice spicy zip at the end. Knocked down a couple at the end of a hot day, which really quenched my thirst, which is what this beer is for. Nice smooth, easy drinking beer. machfive55 (218), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 19, 2008 Poured a cloudy orange color, very little head which surprised me for a wheat beer, but there was a good carbonation.
The aroma was very fruity. I caught citrusy notes and maybe some bubble gum notes as well. Very pleasing by the aroma. No hop aroma.
The flavor of this beer is predominantly fruity. As others have mentioned it has a fruity pebbles flavor. I didn’t necessarily think of fruity pebbles but I did think of orange, lemon and raspberry. My opinion is that the fruit is a little over the top for a wheat beer, without being advertised as a fruit beer. The fruitiness seems genuine to me, I do not think it seems fake at all. No hops or bitterness to be found in this beer, it is sweet but not cloying, an enjoyable sweetness.
This is an excellent summer beer as it is not over the top but provides some complexity and something different.
