Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2007 Updated: Nov 1, 2008Updated: I have learned my lesson, fruit is ok in beer....this one wasn’t half bad.....was a tasty beer......not bad at all.
I did not care for this mainly because of the obvious fruit addition, but I did try it. It has a nice malt flavor but over powered by too much orange. Nice looking color and a ok head. Just not into beers with added fruit flavor, I preffer to let the yeast do that. Still yet, it was a decient beer for what it was meant to be...I try to be fair. Brewso (238), Mt Kisco, New York, USA Dec 18, 2007 On tap at the Leinie’s Metrodome during the Vikes/beers game. Its hard to rate a beer apart from the context in which it is enjoyed. In this case it was a sight for sore eyes. Amongst the Miller Lite and Bud lite taps this looked as good as a belgian quad. Hazy darker wheat appearance. Immediate coriander on the nose with a bit of banana. Sweet and smooth and changed somewhat as it warmed into a respectably complex wheat beer. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Dec 17, 2007 On tap at Applebees. Pours a murkey amber with a decent head. The aroma and taste are dominated by blueberries. Not much more than that, some wheat and a medium body. Really fruity and sweet, but somewhat balanced by the malt and wheat. Decent. carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Dec 14, 2007 Pours cloudy golden yellow with medium-sized white head. Aroma is delicious sweet citrus, like orange peel and berries. Flavor sis surprisingly good and refreshing with a zing twang finish. Not for everyone I’m sure, but I really like this beer, and could drink several in a row. This is the only one from one of their holiday season variety packs that I would bother to drink again.
BisonBrewer (7), USA does not count Dec 14, 2007 It has a unique flavor, with an appetizing aroma. However, it’s taste is seemingly like starburst mixed with a light beer, which prevented me from finishing my case. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 10, 2007 Cloudy bronzed straw in the glass, sporting a foam pancake that leaves filigreed archipelagos. Unexpected but appetizing aromas of ruby grapefruit zest, mandarin orange, ginger, and coriander/chamomile. Flavorwise, an oddly delightful melange of lemon-lime soda, ginger ale, and strawberry/peach, all against a minerally backdrop. A breadcrust and marmalade finish transitions smoothly into the floral marigold and lavender aftertaste. Although watery, a crisp, brisk texture prevails, and is somehow befitting. Overall, an interesting intersection of beer, soda, and mixed fruit juice that would suit a poolside party, smoked salmon dip, or a wedge of poundcake. Newbie (22), Denver, North Carolina, USA Dec 8, 2007 Aroma of orange and wheat. Flavor is much more of orange than most wheat beers I have tasted. I’m not a fan, but if you are craving orange tasting beer, then give it a try. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Dec 5, 2007 16 ounce draw. Pours hazy yellow orange. I wish more American wheat beers looked like this beer. Pronounced orange aroma and flavor. Presumably from the coriander. High carbonation. Dry finish.
