Thin, highly carbonated brew. Flavors are mainly sweet and astringent. Not exciting, but would be interesting to compare with Sara and others. Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Hazy light brown. Very candyish apricots, bubblegum, etc...but not at all in a bad way. Sprizty, with nice light bubblegum with some fairly vibrant dark fruit notes. daknole (3025), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

I don’t have many notes on this and I am hoping it wasn’t the blonde we tasted, but my notes dont say. I do remember this being a sweet beer with an interesting flavor that was undoubtedly from the buckwheat. I find it a bit underrated. Straling (195), Heerlen, Netherlands

Pours a murky brown colour, but with a magnificant head! Great size and texture, extra point for this definetly.
Smells like a chocolate apple with a tiny bit of cinnamon sprinkled on top.
Taste is rather plain, sweet and fruity, not to complex, nonetheless not bad.
Overall it’s better than the Special Spelt and Amber which I also had. daniele (1748), Italy

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 16, 2008 Poured with a tan head that somewhat quickly dissipated and effervesced. The appearance is very dark brown if not almost black with light garnet highlights. Almost like a blackberry.
Aroma is light and fruity, almost champagne or winelike in its soft grape-like character. Some raisin-like aromas are present.
Mouthfeel is highly carbonated with light mouthfeel. No astringency and no alcohol warmth.
The flavor is also quite mild but has some nice fruity character that brings it together. Light spicy yeast character with some light raisiny esters. Bitterness is medium low but no hop flavor or aroma to speak of. The finish is dry and again, like champagne, though finishes with a nice mild sweetness that lingers for a bit.
Overall, very drinkable and digestable given the dry finish. Interesting and worth trying if you can find it. This version wasn’t marketed as "dark", but it probably was the same thing...
