(Bottle, courtesy of Sledge Jr) Pours a deep amber body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of malt and cocoa. Flvaor of malt, chocolate, and dustiness.

From a bottle I purchased in KC. A medium khaki colored head topped the dark brown and ruby colored body. The aroma was sweet apple with some ginger and caramel. The taste had apple core and nutmeg. There was also some tobacco. Not very good.

Most of a bottle at St Louis Microfest, 5/13/06: This is a dark brown brew with a big poofy head. Cookie-malt basis with a bit of molasses and maybe a bit of roast nuttiness. Overall, this is a sweet brown beer.

In the bottle. I’m not sure this is still being made anymore. The Owner of O’Fallon told me that they are not making it for Lemp any longer and the box I purchased ($9.99 a sixer) was the last one (and coated in dust) at the store. The packaging is truly the best part about this beer. Pours a very dark brown to black in color with a delightfully thick dark brown/tan head. If mixed up enough, the dark sediment from the bottom will pepper the foamy head in contrasting colors. Malty chocolate aroma which over-suggests a flavor that does not match. Slightly lighter in body and flavor than I had expected. Ends up sneaking off into oblivion like its namesake reptile on the box. UPDATE 5/18/6: Someone is making this again for Lemp because I saw plenty of it at the Gomers in KC recently. Tony at O’Fallon says he’s not the one making this new incarnation.

Decent brown ale, with some cookie dough maltiness, that literally has a moist body like a cookie would have, some roasted nuttiness mixed in with a light bit of bittering hops in the finish. Really tasty.

Pretty ordinary but not bad. Somewhat malty, with molassses, chocolate chip cookies, and a mild roast in the finish. On the light side, with a clean profile. Brown in color without much head.

Thans to Sledge Jr for this one! Clear, brown pour with plenty of reddish highlights and an off- white head that falls quickly. Sweet sugary aroma. Sweet flavor of malt with some cocoa that goes quickly into a dry finish. Thin and spritzy on the palate.

12 oz. bottle. When I visited the O’Fallon brewery, someone came in and asked if they had this beer, but of course most contract brewers don’t keep the stuff with someone else’s name on premise. But I found this at a liquor department in Columbia, MO, with an O’Fallon type label and the O’Fallon name on the side. Has a decent smell. dark and rich with roasty malts, almost like a porter. Some sediment on the bottom of the bottle, this may be a bit old. Pours opaque, dark brown color with an inch-thick, noisy tan head. I taste some peat, even a tad of rauch, right away. Alcohol seems to be session level. Some light chocolate malts on a base of regular. Some yeast swirling around. Standard bitter backing. Not all that "extravagant," but for now Lemp’s "other" beer after having a lager made. Yes, as others here have said: clean.
